My spouse travels way more than I do [you may refer to my other posting for more info].

When she is away and we talk on the phone, conflict is almost a surety. For example, she traveled to a far away place this weekend, but she arrived much earlier than she anticipated. When she told me how soon she was going to arrive, I said, wow, that is great, now you have more time to spend looking at stuff, and going to more workshops, etc.

Her reply was, oh, you want me to stay away longer, that is what it really is.

On every occasion that she travels away she gets very...anxious, nervous, fearful, whatever, and no matter how much cajoling I do, comforting, etc. nevers seems to be enough to comfort her.

My questions are: what may I be doing wrong that she gets this impression? what can I look for in myself to eliminate the behavior that she sees?

I have documented my relationship within other forums on this website, so I won't take the space here to fill anyone in. I thought maybe that since this forum was related to conflict I would post these questions here.

I am really struggling with this, as I am constant having to console her in that I do miss her, do love her, do want her to be safe, etc., whenever she leaves.

Thanks!

decentman,
I cannot give you answers to your situation, but I can tell you that I am having the same problem with my wife. The only difference is that I work out of town and I hear the same issues from my wife. I am looking for answers to the same questions that you have.
