In my "military post" I stated that my wife and I are going through counseling and trying to work things out. She can't say she loves me RIGHT NOW, but now I'm trying to think what the holidays will be like. I missed ALL of them last year since I was in Iraq. I wanted it to be special this year, but now we are having marital problems. My goal is hopefully by the time I come home for the holidays this year, things will be a little better. Should I get her a nice gift or what? This is the first time I have ever thought of this about giving something to my wife for Christmas. I don't even know if I will receive anything, but I do plan to get her something, just not sure what...any help from you all would be great...thanks.

Why is this the FIRST time you've ever thought about giving her something for Christmas? What do you want to have happen? Give something without expecting anything in return. I don't know your story.....

Im just saying it will be a little different this year is all. I'm not looking for anything in return. I guess I'm scared she will say, "I hope you didn't get anything for me, because I don't know if I would take it..." something like that. She said she doesn't even know if we should still take our young boys to Disney World on the 18th of Dec for 3 nights. We planned this before we had problems a few months ago. The counselor said DO NOT cancel that trip. I will work on her and hopefully you guys will feel ok about going. I am wanting this to work out so bad it hurts

My daughter's tap teacher always used to say "Fake it 'til you make it"

I would go thru the motions "as if YOU" want this to work...Hopefully she'll come around. Definately, take the trip!!

Don't be afraid of how she answers you when you give her the gift and DON'T get MAD. If she says, "I hope you didn't get me anything...." {she's fibbing}
Hmmmmmm....a special gift.????
What is dear to her? How about a framed picture of your children?

I think I will get her something like that and something really nice from Turkey...not sure yet though, but I only have about 4 weeks to do it. Our 10th anniversary is coming up in March and I hope we are together for that one. I am wanting to get her a nice anniversary diamond ring and I hope I can get that for her. I pray every night that happens....
