Hi C.,

We'll have to start a "Cosmetic Surgery" thread. You know how you felt about yourself before and how you feel now.

Although there are probably plenty of folks who won't agree, I think looking good, thus feeling good about yourself helps boost a BS self esteem following an A.

What do you think?

Acey,

I do thank you for challenging me to think differently and name myself accordingly.

WhoMe,
I can tell you the surgery has been a huge blessing to me. A great confidence builder. I am anxious to really be physically recovered from this one, dressings gone, swelling gone, etc.

Harley talks positively about cosmetic surgery in his home study course. Not like "everyone needs to do this" but "this may be something you will want to consider to be your best self."

But the new name is more about the process-- becoming my best self, not lost in a situation that seemed out of control. "Personal" recovery.

Chrysalis,

I hadn't read Harleys comments on CS. I was recovering 13 days out from having a "bit of work done" on d-day. I had decided to do it while Skirmisher was still trying to get himself out of the mess he was in without my finding out. Of course I was clueless then, but was tired of looking "tired" all the time.

I kinda had that Diane Lane thing going, you know how she looks tired sometimes. Well, I don't look tired now, and the bonus is that I had a really good surgeon who took off about 15-years and left me still looking like me.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat....actually I probably will someday.

Facial work has not been something I've ever thought about. But I'm sure in one of my post-op apptmts I'll have to ask "what could you do?" and "How much would it cost?"

I notice I am suddenly getting more, um, attention when I am out and about. And it's not the ace bandages on my arms! You are right, that DOES build my confidence.

Well, I always said, from the time I was around 20 that I would do it some day. Then the years flew by and I had a friend who worked for a really good clinic so I went to a couple of seminars.

They have this computer program where they take your picture and then show you what various procedures will do on your face.

It was amazing. I just couldn't resist, and they gave me a huge military discount. My surgeon was really good. He said that I healed faster than any patient he had ever had. I had no noticable pain of any kind and didn't even need to take the prescription meds they gave me.

I had some swelling for about the first week, but no bruising. I was out and about 8 days after the surgery. The only thing I noticed was that it took nearly 2-years before the numbness on some parts of my face went away. But I understand that is also normal.

I highly recommend it. I already have my $$ set aside for a redo in about 5 -6 more years!
