What She Don’t Know…
He was a travelin’ man, on the road all the time.
Good looking, and frisky, he was one of a kind.
He had a wife and kids back home. He loved them a lot
But when he was gone, they were worlds apart.
He’d think…
What she don’t know won’t hurt her.
I’ll just have me a little fun.
It won’t mean that I don’t love her.
She just won’t be the only one.
So he found a latin lover, was with her for two years.
Found excuses to be with her, didn’t notice the tears
His wife cried when she sensed something was wrong.
She wondered, “How could he be gone for so long?”
He’d think…
What she don’t know won’t hurt her.
I deserve this little treat.
After all, she loves me too
And her loving is so sweet.
One day the wife found a letter and it left little doubt
What her husband had been doing, what he was all about.
She wanted to leave, to run away, but decided to give him one more chance
And agreed to stay.
And he thought…
What she don’t know won’t hurt her.
I’ll just find another way
To have my cake and eat it too.
And he continued to play.
He kept his little secrets, tried to hide them well,
But he didn’t know she could bust his e-mail.
The pain turned into anger, and finally into ice
What happened after that, wasn’t very nice.
Because…
What she don’t know won’t hurt her
Til the day that she finds out
Then the pain is more than she can stand
And all she wants is out.
Because…
What she don’t know won’t hurt her.
He will always think that way.
He will play and hide the truth
Until his dying day.
The truth will only hurt her
And he wants to live both ways
Why can’t she let him be himself
When he is far away.
By Beth O. November 30, 2001 zbet_2000@yahoo.com
