Tomorrow is our (FWW and I) fifteenth wedding anniversary. What kind of present do you get for the W you love more than anything in this world who does not love you in return. After reconciling from her last A for a year and a half she still doesn't show any love nor concern for our M. She tells me she wants our M to work but I am the only one trying to make it work. It's hard, as most of you know here, to wake up to the same old dead end M everyday.

They just don't make anniversary or birthday cards for people in troulbed marriages. I gave up on finding a card for our anniversary! Maybe we can start a company..."I know you'd rather not be married to me, but happy anniversary anyway!" or "Happy birthday to the worst husband in the world," or "happy anniversary to my legal partner." Just a (bitter)thought...

Great idea. I can't find appropriate valentines day, spouse birthday, anniversary cards for my H.
How about artwork featuring a person on life support, rigged up to a heart-lung machine, tubes going in and out of the body, thick electric cord and plug inserted in wall -

or how about
"Happy Anniversary to the man/woman I married who still shares the same address"

or how about
"For our anniversary this year, waddya say you turn off your cell phone and talk to ME instead?"

I'm not feeling very funny. Please someone come and be witty here.

Limbolady and Belleview,

Thanks for responding. You guys are crazy. Great idea for starting a new company seeing how 40% - 60% of those who get married seek out separation or divorce.

In case you were wondering, I bought her a lemon tree. She has been wanting one for so long.

Not sure if this is appropriate or not. I'm lucky enough to be in recovery and I do send lovey or funny cards for special occasions... but I do have one that I'm saving for when we have a fight <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />

On the cover it says something like
You're my best friend, my soulmate, my (I forgot what)

Then you open it up and it says
And occasionally the three of you really piss me off!

Like I said, not sure if it's appropriate because the cover portion wouldn't really apply. But it's still funny and if all my post does is share a laugh, well, that's worth something.

Turtlehead,

Yeah, I would probably just use that one to get a chuckle out of us. Since you are in recovery that could be a huge LB to your H. It was funny though. Sometimes I wonder which personality to expect to deal with from my W when I get up in the mornings.

For our first Valentine's day after D-day, I wanted to create the following card:

A picture of me in a field somewhere, in a black dress, looking all soft and dreamy and looking down at the ground. You know one of those goofy 1970's Hallmark thingys. The cover would say "On this Valentine's Day I feel so lucky, so blessed...

On the inside is a larger view of me standing over an open grave with a frying pan in my hand and two policemen standing behind me and it says...

"that I didn't follow through on my plan."

Yes, I think that there is a market for twisted cards.

I still can't bring myself to say the really gushy stuff and traditional cards kinda make me gag. This year I found a card that basically said "We found our own way. We haven't lived the life that others might have chosen for us or the way that others have chosen for themselves, but I am glad we are together." I was afraid that he would think I was pointing out all the fracture points in our marriage, but that wasn't my intention. I handed it to him and said "What I really want you to know is that I am glad I stayed." He wept.
