Gina's daughter Chelsea is having a Bday party [11 y/o Thursday] with 4 other girls tonight. [They are spending the night here as well] Hense, I am downstairs rocking out to Dokken. I can't believe how loud five girls can be!!! Anyway, God bless Dee Snyder, "If it ain't Metal, it's Crap" This got me thinking....

I was just wondering if I am stuck in a Peter Pan Syndrome or fighting with a midlife crisis.

I refuse to get old, still don't look 43. Maybe 4 grey hair, act like an idiot, have fun, drive a Y2K Trans Am and listen to the same music my 22 y/o son listens to. Of course my 18 y/o goes for the homey cheese tunes, baseball cap off to the side and all.

Just trying to make sense of this, don't know why tonight was the night. Older boy drives a red Z28, younger a red Trans Am. Gee, can you guess what color my car is?

Sorry, if I'm rambing, tired, just some stupid things that are going thru my little brain.

So, just wondered if I am the only old FART still stuck in the "80's.

edit because I can't count

I still love the doowop stuff that came out before I was born. Several years ago my d heard 'Bye-Bye Love' and asked if it was the blues. She's been going through a Henry Mancini/Everly Brothers thing in the last 8 months. Go figure.

Hey, Jane-Elise,

I was just trying to figure out what was going on upstairs in my small brain box. Cripes, the kids were playing a CD on Chels' boom box [is that still the correct term today?] it sounded terrible at full volume. So I popped it in the "real" tune center. [MINE] It's pretty cool, I can rattle the windows. 11 y/o's and I like the same tunes, I don't get it.

My Mom was here at the time and wanted to go out the back door because it was too loud. What? too loud.

Are you sure that I don't know the Diplomat? I think I do......

I'm 25, and I listen to everything... well, almost everything.

Love most genres of music... for different things.

When I'm blue, nothing can mellow me out/smooth me over the rough spots like Norah Jones or Russell Watson.

When I'm sleepy, it's all about classical music.

When I'm upset, it's all about hard rock/heavy metal (though I refuse to see death metal as music).

When I'm happy, I love 80's rock, pop rock and hip tunes.

When I'm "in the mood" I like anything with a gooood, sensual beat.

43 as well--last concert--Linkin Park--with H in reserved seating, our teenage daughters in the mosh pit/general seating. Loved it. One singer is melodic and/or screamer, other rapper. Good sounds. Pre-band Mudveyn, ok, a little horrified and they sounded horrible even according to the 18 yr old, whose boyfriend is a big fan and has listened to CDs.

I like some of the "angry guys" as I call them--Godsmack comes to mind. Left to my own devices I like Hootie & the Blowfish, Barenaked Ladies (oh, you know it's a band ), celtic, especially Lorena McKennit, then, there's Creed ("Arms Wide Open" sang it to my H on our first anniversary in recovery--#17 of our marriage ), Collective Soul.

I remember the 80's and love Queen, Rod Stewart "Maggie May" know that one, didn't understand the "sun in your face really shows your age" until the last few years, Meatloaf "bat out of hell" sends me back. Happily. Sang along with George Thorougood & the destroyers on the way home from work. "I drink alone... my good friend Bud Wiser...Johnny Walker" & "bad to the bone". Such a bad boy.

Honey, I'm a blonde and glad to remind my relatives I always was...to their confusion.

Hey Caly,

That's cool with a wide variety of tunage. I just can't do the country thing. Val [XW] got into country and pick up trucks when she was seeing Brian [OM]. I am stuck on rock, heavy Metal to be exact. Come to think of it, I always hated country. Man, that poor wife that left, the dog, shotgun.... and don't forget the plaid shirt. Just makes me sad. Sorry, Headbanger for life!!!

Mummy and Daddy made me attend a classical music class in school. It was a very popular class as there were 7, yes, 7 of of us there. Well, really before that I was Metal Head.

So did you guys decide yet? Peter Pan or MLC?

The kids are watching something on Disney and the tune are pretty cool. Gads.... That's bad... I'm 32 years older then they are... ok... MLC

Hey Lor,

Glad to here from Ya!!! How are things going?

My Kid [22] has the Linken Park CD, it should be worn out by now. I don't know what the He!! the younger boy listens to. Homey cheese stuff. I think they call it rap.

It's funny, I would put in Boston and T2 would know the words. That's '70s stuff.

Just wondering if I'm trying to hold on to youth or what. I bought my car before really getting into a relationship with Gina. She has two small children, the car doesn't have back seats except for insurance regs. The dog doens't fit back there, not like I would take a dog in a Trans...

Ok, so Gang, MLC or am I just this cool

I doubt it's Peter Pan

I'm a tad younger than you (35), but my husband and I are still 80s kids, and our kids just love the music we listen to.

It sounds to me like you've learned how to enjoy your life. You aren't using money needed to support your family on your car - so whats wrong with it? Personally, I think that anyone who thinks something is wrong with you is the one with the problem.

Nothing wrong with loud music and fast cars at 43 - I expect that when I am 43 my H and I will have a auto rallies under our belts (just waiting for the kids to get a bit older...)

Hey Bramble,

Sorry about the long delay, I have been sicker than a dog. I HATE summer colds. Just love the barfing and being febrile on hot, humid days.

Anyway, I was hoping someone would agree with the PPS gig. I told G that I will be driving a sports car up until the day my walker doesn't fit behind the driver seat.

That would be pretty cool, seeing an "arrest me" red Trans sitting in a handicapped space.

I really do like the late '70's too, well from what I can remember [I may have been a HS druggie or something back then] But, it hasn't affected me at all. But, it hasn't affected me at all. But, it hasn't affected me at all. But, it hasn't affected me at all.

80's, 90's even some of todays stuff is o-tay. The local radio station really rocks and they are perves. WZZO 95.1 G used to listen to it by stream in AK before she moved up here.

OK, I'm babbling. I think the Nyquil has kicked in. Thanks for not thinking I'm a freak.

Well, I'm older than just about anybody here but Pepper and JL (now THAT man is REALLY old!).

Why, just the other day, I was singing this ol' BeeGees song (from BEFORE the "disco" phase) in my 1960 VW singlecab pickup truck (it doesn't run well right now, but it's at least outside in the sun, the 1929 Model A doesn't run either, but it's in the garage).

"Holiday"

"Ooh you're a holiday , such a holiday
Ooh you're a holiday , such a holiday

It's something I thinks worthwhile
If the puppet makes you smile
If not then you're throwing stones
Throwing stones, throwing stones

Ooh it's a funny game
Don't believe that it's all the same
Can't think what I've just said
Put the soft pillow on my head

Millions of eys can see
Yet why am I so blind
When the someone else is me
It's unkind, it's unkind

de de de de de de de de de de de de de
de de de de de de de de de de de de de

Yet millions of eyes can see
Yet why am I so blind
When the someone else is me
It's unkind, it's unkind

Ooh you're a holiday , ev'ry day , such a holiday
Now it's my turn to say , and I say you're a holiday
It's something I thinks worthwhile
If the puppet makes you smile
If now then you're throwing stones
Throwing stones , throwing stones

de de de de de de de de de de de de de de"

You really have 2 hear the 'de de de de de de de de de de de de de de' part live. It loses something in type.

Hypatia:

Ah yes! "All the birds in the forest they bitterly weep
Saying, "Where will we shelter or where will we sleep?"
For the Oak and the Ash, they are all cutten down
And the walls of bonny Portmore are all down to the ground."

What a voice, 2!

And then a little Lisa Gerrard never hurt anyone either, huh?

I love the 80's tunes yet. Brings back all of the fun teenage memories. Whats cool is that alot of the kids love the stuff so we don't look so old. I think the hairband tunes will last forever.

No you aren't the only 1 stuck in the 80's, but since i have been seperated I do listen to alot of the music they have out now. My husband didn't really like the new music so I really didn't listen to it much, but now I do. I even surprise my kids. It's funny because I graduated in 1983 so our 20th reunion is coming up and I suggested we all sit in chairs to dance since we dance so well in the car.

Hey Gang,

Been busy playing ambulance and making stuff for G and the kids. I have turned into Bob Vila, well, minus the hitting the antique furnishings as he always seems to do.

So I'm sitting here listening to Skid Row [anyone know these guys] and I figured I had time to sit down and reply. Since G is in the bedroom watching TV and thinks I'm doing stuff in the basement.

Hey 2Long,
A VW and a Model A? Too cool. Um, who are the Gee Bee's? Are they still together today? Any tune I would know? [JK] Remember the remake of Segeant Pepper in the late '70's. Must have seen that a dozen times.

Hi Hypatia,
Cool, looks like I'm not alone in this journey. Hey, Journey!!! another '80's band.

Yo Jilly,
Hair bands WILL live forever. My partner and I were watching old MTV clips and he says "Are they chicks?" NO goob that is KIX, cool tune BTW

Ola Isgirl,
Ow, quit it!!! [in Bart Simpsons voice] And it's 2longs fault, just so ya know!!!

Ah Goldie,
Another bunch that rocks out in the car. Yeah, baby. I went out for some stuff yesterday and was rocking out to Night Ranger's "You can still rock in American" The neighbors were giving me [censored] because they could hear me coming a block away. Hell, they should have heard me a mile away. Killer sound system in the T/A

Poop, gotta go, G came out wondering what I was doing. See Ya!

Hey Jane-Elise!!!

Ya know, come to think of it, you never let us rock out in your car. Maybe because Tom was freaked out at my red finger nail.

G took Chelsea shopping the other night and left Ian here with me. Well, we did a male bonding gig, installed the under cabinet coffee maker together and started watching Running Scared.

G got home and wasn't real happy. I kinda forgot it was rated R, [the movie, not the coffee maker] ooooppppssss. My son [T2] and I watched the first tape I had so many times we wore it out. Anyway they have cool tunes in the movies and Chels was dancing away. Fortunately I have the sound track so it looks like we will be dancing the day away today. No Bob Vila plans as of yet. I'll have to wait till G wakes up.

Hope you are doing well. I really would like to visit Nville again. It was cool.
