Almost every weekend in the winter we take our kids to the open skating session at the local ice rink.
My kids love to skate and never get bored. All three kids rotate between skating by themselves and with friends, or skating holding Mom or Dad's hand.
After skating we ususally go out for ice cream or some other treat.
An added bonus for Mom & Dad is that the kids will usually be ready for bed early after the physical activity. What you and your spouse do with the quiet evening time is up to you.
