OK...just got to share. The mood is much too somber.
I was fishing around in the cold dark basement under our garage we use for storage. My 13 year old daughter was helping me get some Christmas things out. I had wide leg jeans on.
After a few minutes I felt something. I patted just bellow my butt and felt a lump inside my jeans. I squeezed it and it went pop and kind of smoosh.
Laid back, usually the calmest in a crisis me, started screaming at the top of my lungs and running for the back door into our walk out. It was locked. My daughter had to run up to the front, down the stairs and let me in. I'm still screaming for the whole neighborhood to hear. THERE'S SOMETHING GOOSHY IN MY PANTS!!!!! LET ME IN!!!!
Now my three daughters and my daughter's friend watch in horror as I rip my pants off and huge and I mean huge swished grasshopper falls out leaving I kid you not, a teaspoon of gray guts on my pants. Yuk.
Just thought you might want to get a visual on that one.
------------------
Faith, Hope, Love Remain,
but the greatest of these is Love.
1 Corinthians 13:13

FHL,
I do love the visual. I have a question for you. Do know of the book that talks about turning peoples behavior around by your actions? I think you are the resident expert on such things. Have been conversing with Essyboo on her thread. It seems to me she needs some advice along those lines and I am not really the right person for the job.
I just come at things in a way that she understands. Perhaps you could have a look and if you know the name of the book give her that information and more. It is her "grass is greener.." thread.
Thanks, I love bug stories. I'll bet your daughter was howling. My kids would be for sure.
JL

FTL,
Oh wowwwwww,,,I would just die!! One of my greatest fears,,grasshoppers! The other one is a june bug. I know, I know. They won't hurt you but I'd rather pick up a snake or spider than be within 10 feet of either of those two bugs.
Many years ago, my H was lying on the living room floor, watching a scary movie. It was the last 10 minutes of his two hour show. It was night time and I was cleaning the kitchen in my nightgown, and decided to take out the trash. As I was re-entering the house, a june bug flew down the front of my nightgown. I FLIPPED!! Threw down the trash can, jumped up and down, screaming at the top of my lungs, grasping and tearing at the top of my nightgown. My H jumped up, not knowing what was wrong, thought a "slasher" must have gotten me!! Needless to say, he wasn't too happy with me when he discovered he had missed the final minutes of his movie because of a june bug!!

A June bug? Yuck to that, too.
A couple of years ago I had one of those gauzy billowy skirts on walking out to my Mom Mobile.
I sat down in the seat and ouchhhhhhh!! I knew it was a bee. My older girls had the fun of watching me run around our front yard, but I couldn't seem to get the bee out. I ran into the house and to our bedroom where H was napping yelling Help Me and pulling the skirt over my head. Before H could even react, I heard Bzzzz.....and the bee flew away.
Couldn't sit down comfortably for a few days. My neighbors must think I'm nuts!

------------------
Faith, Hope, Love Remain,
but the greatest of these is Love.
1 Corinthians 13:13

You just reminded me of one of my funniest moments..... We were dedicating the grounds of our church and we prayed in a circle around the field. I had on a long flowing dress, and as we left to get into our car, I felt this LUMP in my dress near my stomach. By this time I was halfway in the car and I started screaming, legs and arms were flailing!! The Dress goes up and out hops this grasshopper loose in the car. I freak out all the while people are looking our way. I yell, it was a grasshopper. My h kills it finally and we slowly leave the church, trying to remain cool!!!
Thanks for the memory and you visual was great!
