These first two links are the first and second parts in a series on NPR's "Talk of the Nation". I listened to the second segment this morning. It has a pretty interesting view on the cultural expectations for marriage in America vs. marriage in India (where arranged marriages are the norm). Also kind of debunks some widely held myths about what an "arranged" marriage really is.
Both practices have their pros and cons. Made for some interesting listening.
The third link is to an interview with John Gottman, a psychologist that specializes in marital therapy. I haven't listened to that one yet. It just happened to pop up in my search on NPR, and I remember that Sisyphus mentioned something about him awhile back.
What is Marriage for? http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnps05fm.cfm?SegID=54009
Arranged Marriage http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnps05fm.cfm?SegID=54253
John Gottman http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnps05fm.cfm?SegID=109644
