Ok, this week I'll start. I expect some of the other singers to jump in here though. This is from the movie "A Bug's Life". Anyone who hasn't seen it, should rent it.
Randy Newman "The Time of Your Life"
Was a bug, little bug, hardly there How he felt, what he dreamed, who would care Without any evidence (his flaws were many) He was full of confidence (some people haven't any) He didn't have much common sense (it's highly overrated) He just knew that he'd come through
It's the time of your life so live it well It's the time of your life so live it well You may only go 'round one this one time As far as I can tell (you could be wrong about that) It's the time of your life It's the time of your life It's the time of your life so live it well
Like a song, started small, then it grew When the time, came he knew, what to do He knew in order to succeed (they had to work together) Turn a rock into a seed (and they were changed forever) Knew they had the strength they'd need (to get through stormy weather) Do or die, you gotta try
It's the time of your life, so live it well It's the time of your life, so live it well You may only go 'round one time As far as I can tell (you could be wrong about that) It's the time of your life, so live it well
Isn't it a bit surprising How our fortunes ebb and flow And only to the enterprising Does the magic fortune cookie go
It's the time of your life, so live it well It's the time of your life, so live it well You may only go 'round one time As far as I can tell It's the time of your life It's the time of your life It's the time of your life, so live it well
Carpe diem!!

Peter Gabriel, "Secret World"
I stood in this unsheltered place 'Til I could see the face behind the face All that had gone before had left no trace
Down by the railway siding In our secret world, we were colliding All the places we were hiding love What was it we were thinking of?
So I watch you wash your hair Underwater, unaware And the plane flies through the air Did you think you didn't have to choose it That I alone could win or lose it In all the places we were hiding love What was it we were thinking of?
In this house of make believe Divided in two, like Adam and Eve You put out and I recieve
{Chorus:} Down by the railway siding In our secret world, we were colliding In all the places we were hiding love What was it we were thinking of?
Oh the wheel is turning spinning round and round And the house is crubling but the stairways stand With no guilt and no shame, no sorrow or blame Whatever it is, we are all the same
Making it up in our secret world [x3] Shaking it up Breaking it up Making it up in our secret world
Seeing things that were not there On a wing on a prayer In this state of disrepair
[Chorus]
Shh, listen...
-Anson Mayers --James Bowditch

Is anybody a CREED fan? I'm going to see them in concert July 11! Can't wait! At least something to look forward to! I've been listening to all of their songs and they just fit how I feel....
To my H: WASH AWAY THOSE YEARS
She came calling One early morning She showed her crown of thorns She whispered softly To tell a story About how she had been wronged As she laylifeless He stole her innocence And this is how she carried on... Well, I guess she closed her eyes And just imagined everything's alright But she could not hide her tears 'Cause they were sent to wash away those years They were sent to wash away those years
My anger's violent But still I'm silent When tragedy strikes at home I know this decadence Is shared by millions Remember you're not alone Well, if you just close your eyes And just imagine everything's alright But do not hide your tears 'Cause they were sent to wash away those years For we have crossed many oceans And we labor in between In life there are many quotients And I hope I find the mean....

I went through my separation just about the time Alanis Morrisette's CD "Jagged Little Pill" came out. And I listened to that thing repeatedly. The first two or three songs were exactly where I was then.
But through it all, I still get a kick out of Gloria Gaynor's old disco hit "I Will Survive"!

Dont know the singer's name but its on one of my Dance Club CD's. Sometimes I crank it up in my car & holler it out:
You done me wrong, Your time is up. You took a sip from the devil's cup. You broke my heart, there's no way back. Move on outta here, baby, go and pack your bags
Chorus: "Just who do you think you are? Stop acting like some kind of Star Just who do you think you are? Take it like a man, baby, if that's what you are.
'Cause I'm movin' on up, you're movin' on out Trying to break free, Nothin' can stop me now."
They say a man has walked in space, but you cant even find my place. There ain't nothing you can do 'Cause I've had enough of me baby, being part of you.
Chorus: "Just who do you think you are . . .." etc.

Okay, for a less angry song & one that makes me cry . .. Help! WHO sings it & WHAT is the song's title?? I think it must've been on the Country charts at one time & has been the theme music for some commercials
. .I'm so tired and I can't sleep, hanging on the edge of something much too deep. . .Funny how it feels . . . .
"I will remember you, will you remember me? Don't let your life pass you by, waiting on a memory."

OK. I'll join !!!
What fun!!!
Against the Wind...that is "I will remember You" by Sarah McLauchlin. I love her music!
Here's a happy one from me!
High Hopes Next time your found, with your chin on the ground There a lot to be learned, so look around Just what makes that little old ant Think he'll move that rubber tree plant Anyone knows an ant, can't Move a rubber tree plant But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes He's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes So any time your gettin' low 'stead of lettin' go Just remember that ant Oops there goes another rubber tree plant When troubles call, and your back's to the wall There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall Once there was a silly old ram Thought he'd punch a hole in a dam No one could make that ram, scram He kept buttin' that dam 'Cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes So any time your feelin' bad 'stead of feelin' sad Just remember that ram Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam All problems just a toy balloon They'll be bursted soon They're just bound to go pop Oops there goes another problem kerplop

Here's one more pick-me-up song by S Club 7:
Bring it all back now
Don't stop, never give up Hold your head high and reach to the top Let the world see what you have got Bring it all back to you
Hold on to what you try to be Your individuality When the world is on your shoulders Just smile and let it go If people try to put you down Just walk on by don't turn around You only have to answer to yourself
Don't you know it's true what they say That life, it ain't easy But your time's coming around So don't you stop tryin'
Don't stop, never give up Hold your head high and reach the top Let the world see what you have got Bring it all back to you Dream of falling in love Anything you've been thinking of When the world seems to get too tough Bring it all back to you
Na na na na..
Try not to worry 'bout a thing Enjoy the good times life can bring Keep it all inside you Gotta let the feeling show Imagination is the key 'Cos you are you're own destiny You never should be lonely When time is on your side
Don't you know it's true what they say Things are sent to try you But your time's coming around So don't you stop tryin'
Don't stop, never give up Hold your head high and reach the top Let the world see what you have got Bring it all back to you Dream of falling in love Anything you've been thinking of When the world seems to get too tough Bring it all back to you
Na na na na..
Don't you know it's true what they say Things happen for a reason But your time's coming around So don't you stop tryin'
Don't stop, never give up Hold your head high and reach the top Let the world see what you have got Bring it all back to you Dream of falling in love Anything you've been thinking of When the world seems to get too tough Bring it all back to you

For you ATW:
I WILL REMEMBER YOU - SARAH MCLAUCHLIN
I will remember you Will you remember me? Don't let your life Pass you by Weep not for the memories
I'm so tired but I can't sleep Standing on the edge of something much too deep It's funny how we feel so much, We cannot say a word Thought we are screaming inside Oh, we can't be heard
But I will remember you Will you remember me? Don't let your life Pass you by Weep not for the memories
I'm so afraid to love you But more afraid to lose Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose Once there was a darkness A deep and endless night You gave me everything you had Oh, you gave me life
And I will remember you Will you remember me? Don't let your life Pass you by Weep not for the memories
I will remember you Will you remember me? Don't let your life Pass you by Weep not for the memories

I never, ever post....but lurk almost daily.
Good thread. I've got a song that fits my situation (and others, I'm sure) perfectly:
It's by a little band called Over the Rhine.
Latter Days words and music: Detweiler recording: Good Dog Bad Dog
What a beautiful piece of heartache this has all turned out to be. Lord knows we've learned the hard way all about healthy apathy. And I use these words pretty loosely. There's so much more to life than words.
There is a me you would not recognize, dear. Call it the shadow of myself. And if the music starts before I get there dance without me. You dance so gracefully. I really think I'll be o.k. They've taken their toll these latter days.
Nothin' like sleepin' on a bed of nails. Nothin' much here but our broken dreams. Ah, but baby if all else fails, nothin' is ever quite what it seems. And I'm dyin' inside to leave you with more than just cliches.
There is a me you would not recognize, dear. Call it the shadow of myself. And if the music starts before I get there dance without me. You dance so gracefully. I really think I'll be o.k. They've taken their toll these latter days.
But tell them it's real. Tell them it's really real. I just don't have much left to say. They've taken their toll these latter days. They've taken their toll these latter days.
For now,
Brian
[ June 18, 2002: Message edited by: CincyBrian ]
