What are you doing with your engagement ring? Right now mine is sitting in the safe deposit box. Not sure what to do with it. I'm thinking about either selling the diamond or turning it into a necklace and taking the gold band portion and having it made into the shape of a screw and wearing that around my neck!!

Fingers -
I don't know what I'm going to do with mine and my Anniversary ring that I got for our 20th wedding Anniversary. STBXH gave me a pair of guilt diamond earrings last year. I put these things along with anything that he gave me while on trips out of town with OW in a bag and have them in the top of the closet. I was thinking about giving my 19 yr. old D the earrings. Any body else have any suggestions. LOL about having the gold made into a screw

I sold my ring and used the money to buy new den furniture. I have two girls and couldn't split the ring in two... And it was nice to have new furniture that was "mine" not "ours."

i still wear mine but on my right hand...

have you heard the saying that one wears their rings on the wrong finger cuz they married the wrong person...

but i guess the main reason i still wear my rings is because i still am in love with my ex...

i'm part crazy...

I had my engagement ring, wedding band, and anniversary band fused together, and they/it is sitting in my special box on the top shelf of my desk.

I have one girl, so I think I'll save it for her if she wants it.

My Mom sold hers, and it would have been nice if Sis or I could have had it for sentimental reasons. There were several smaller diamonds and one larger, so we could have split it some way.

I miss wearing my ring. Don't miss being married. But the darn thing was on my finger for 10 years and rarely taken off. It was very pretty too.

My first mistake was to have my mom's diamond from her wedding band put into my set.

My second mistake was to give my XH a band that was my father's.

My ring sits in a box full of worthless junk jewelry because ... well ... there you go

My father's ring is in the middle of an overgrown field/swamp/woods ... whereever it landed when my then-H threw it.

I'd have gladly traded.

Hey PB - Glad you liked my new sig line. You are the first commenter. I thought it was pretty good.

Wish you had Dad's ring too.

I have a beautiful diamond - so I think I'm going to have it re-set into a "non" engagement like setting. My sister refers to hers as her "divorce" ring since it was a little present she gave to herself after her divorce was final. So I try to look at it that way. As far as the wedding band, who knows. It's not worth that much, guess I'll just put it away with other stuff.

Well, I have two boys and I couldn't think of one reason to keep my engagement ring, wedding bands, promise ring or wedding dress. All of these things symbolized a committment, a promise. I was betrayed and I sold all of it, paid off some bills, and bought some things for me and the boys. I haven't looked back, it was the right thing for me to do. I moved on a step further when I got rid of those things and took a firmer grasp of my own life.

My x gave me back the engagement ring and the diamond jewelry I had made from diamonds I had gotten form my grandfather.

Last year before Xmas I sold them(engagement ring my wedding band, she kept hers) to a local jewelers. Didn't get much though. Got a couple hundred bucks, out of the thousand or so I spent on them.

My cheapie of a H wouldn't consider spending real $$ on something like an engagement ring. I could sell my tiny little gem thang and buy maybe 2-3 bath towels with the funds. As a matter of fact, I let me teenager daughter wear it whenever she wants to, even if she lost it, the value lost wouldn't be much. I have bought her rings when she was 10 that was worth more than my engagement ring!

I have since acquired the ring of his grandmother, which was a birthday gift to me from his grandfather, which he had reset into a more contemporary setting. I have it sitting in a safe deposit box. It was a personal gift to me, so it is not part of marital property or assets. Since I have more than 1 daughter, I can't split it up. I will offer it to him at settlement for the appraised value to be given to me in cash from our assets. I'm certain the sentimental value of it to H will be worth it to him to avoid having me sell it to a stranger online or a pawn shop.

Hi Everyone,

Mine is sitting in my jewelry box. My ex wants me to wear it, but I told him it has no value to me any more. I don't know what I'll do with it. I guess it too early for me yo decide. He moved out a week ago today.

I took my ring to several good jewelers to get an idea of what it was really worth. I was getting quotes of about 1/2 my appraisal. The stone itself was from my ex's family. I offered to sell them the stone or ring but they mocked me. So I put an ad in the classifieds and sold it about 5 days later for about 30% less than my appraisal which I was told was a good price.

My ex wife was gracious enough to leave the rings on the TV when she left. I sold mine and hers for about 40% of what I paid for them and the kids and I went on a nice vacation.

Fingers,
I had my diamond made into a necklace. For about a year I kept it in a safe deposit box because I couldn't stand to look at it. The diamond is a family heirloom (not my family, my exh's)and will go to my daughter one day. Among my divorced friends here in Columbus Ohio, wearing the diamond around your neck seems to be a fashion statement. Just what it symbolizes is anyones guess!

My engagement ring is sitting in a box at the bottom of my dresser. All the years we were married my exh told me that the ring was very valuable, it was over 50 years old. His dad bought it after he came home from the service back in 1946 and it was special so I cherished it for 27 years, then after the divorce I tried to give it back, and he told me to keep it because when and if he remarried he would buy a bigger and better one. Then I tried to sell it and I was told that it was only worth at the most $300. Can you imagine my shock? I guess I should have known!!

married 4/1974
divorced 4/2001
him 55
me 48
2 adult children
