I live in TN & have a question about marital debt. I'm not divorced or divorcing, just contemplating the issue. Due to a bad employment move some years ago, our bank account was overdrawn & we are currently paying it off (no where near the end of the line on it). I was the primary account holder & my H was the secondary account holder. If we got divorced & I requested that he be responsible for that debt, would this account be cleared from my credit report? Or would that happen only if my H paid the debt?

Also - any other input would be appreciated on this subject.

If this is the reason you are holding up a decision for divorce, I suggest you go to counselling, even youe priest. Failing that, some lawyers give free consulting advice. try that.

Judging by your member # you've been on here longer than I have. So you may already know about these resources, but if not, try these sites for divorce law information: Divorce Source, Divorce Info , or Divorce Net . The best one for your question is probably Divorce Source but they all have state-specific information.

Hopefully your financial situation can be worked out prior to any possible separation/divorce. Good luck!

Doogie -
No, finances don't play apart in my wanting a divorce, but 4 affairs and a child born from the last affair do. My question is just something I was wondering about.
