I'm going thru my second divorce -- a rebound marriage that became abusive quickly -- and I'm really worried about my STBX.

It's such a long story. Most importantly right now, he has holed himself up in his tiny apartment for days without any food, he says. He's terribly depressed (dxed bipolar)and sounds like death warmed over. I don't know how long it's been since he's slept any significant amt of time.

He doesn't see his shrink until May 10. There are immigration issues that need dealing with right away...what role should I/do I have in this?

He is an American living in Canada on a work permit which expired April 15th. He is technically in this country illegally because of the bunglings of some bureaucrat.

What should I do if anything? Should I e-mail his doc? He has no family here at all. He's from the South.

I don't know what to tell you, but I just wanted you to know that I prayed for you (and him).

I would say that if you fear that he is suicidal, you need to intervene...call or email his doctor.

I think it's up to you how "involved" you want to be, but if it was me, I think I'd try to help him in some way, until he has more support around him.

But don't do anything to put yourself in danger or legally responsible for him in any way (although if you are still legally married, I guess you bear some legal responsibility.)

Sounds like he needs to be on meds right away, even before he has a chance to talk to his dr.
