Children are the most sensitive beings on the planet. They feel what they can't understand. The atmosphere in the home is what they pick up on most. They soak up what's going on in their homes: whether there is genuine respect between family members, the level of warmth, how the inevidable conflicts life brings are resolved or not resolved. They learn self-respect by feeling how their parents feel about themselves. How can anyone having an affair feel more than superficially good about themselves (not that the flattery of an affair doesn't have it's very strong effect) but they know what they are doing is wrong and that it would be better to handle their problems some other way.<P>The best thing a parent can do for their children is have a happy marriage. The best way to have a happy marriage is to keep trying hard to find what works and when you find it try hard to do it.
