Hi all,
In a way I feel funny posting this here. But so many others have made similar posts and I thought it might help to have as many people praying for my mom (80) as I could muster up.
She had 4 or 5 strokes yesterday. The last one was in the middle of the night... doc says an 8 on a scale of 1..10. She's seems coherent, her speech is slurred. She lost control of one side of her body for a while last night but seems to have it back. She is very frightened and far from out of the woods. She's been pretty independent up to now, who knows what this is going to bring. The hospital is working very hard to stop any further strokes.
Right now I'm numb. Don't think the severity of this has sunk in yet.
Thanks, you are all such good people to reach out to help so many when you are hurting too. So here I am loading one more on you.

Zorweb,
I am so sorry you and your family are faced with these uncertain times. You and your mother will be in my prayers tonight. You were the very first person to respond to me when I found MB. I am forever grateful to you for your advice and thoughtfulness not only to me, but also to many others here at MB.

It is so hard to see our moms afraid, isn't it? May your mom's faith in God provide her peace of mind, and may God grant wisdom to her doctors so that they can provide her with the best of care. And may God grant you the serenity you need to comfort your mom while you yourself are anxious.
Thinking of you,
Estes

All,
I'm heading out to the hospital to be with my mom. It's been wonderful to check here on and off today and see the support. You know, I think the prayers are working... apparently last night the doc though she was not going to make it through today. Now she is sitting up and talking... still a little bit of a slur in her voice, but she is here and cognizant.
Thanks all

Zorweb - I also posted on marriage builders for strength and support for the illness that my dad was suffering. He passed away on Jan. 2, 2002 with cancer. I received so much support and prayers. We are all here to help you.
The numbness is real. I wasn't accepting the reality of my dads life until he came home from the hospital with hospice services. He only lasted 1 week at home, and I stayed with my mother caring for him the last 3 days almost all the time. I slept in a recliner by his hospital bed in the family room. The numbness if for real.
There is quite a bit they can do with patients who have suffered strokes. Medication and physical therapy can help those in need.
I pray for your mother, God give Zorwebs mother the strength to follow the path you have set for her. Give strength to the family for the outcome of her illness. Pray for family and friends to be supportive and comforting in this time of illness.
God be with you! Thinker

Zorweb,
I am praying for you and your mother. Strokes are so scary...and tough to watch your parents go through. They have come such a long way in stroke treatment.
My father had a major stroke in 1978 when he was battling cancer. I still remember how terrifying it was.
You will be in my thoughts...take care of your self, so you can be strong for your mom. Pat

zorweb --
I am so very sorry for your Mom and for you. I will keep the two of you in my thoughts and prayers.
You load one more on this board anytime you need to--that's what this board does best (read these replies!) and it has very broad shoulders to be able to bear all of its caring and involvement. You know how much the people here care about you and whatever problems you're having.
We hurt right along beside you and your Mom and we
certainly send our strongest wishes for a positive and solid recovery. Blessings,
Ammon
