Boy do I feel dumb, but cannot find how to do this.
I have msn messenger. When I open it (not signed on yet a window pops up saying
"Click here to sing in as username@hotmail.com...
Or, click here to sign in as someone else"
I really, really want to detete all references to this username. I don't want it to pop up here anymore... it's one of STL's from last year that he used in the 'chats'. I stupidly opened it up and now I cannot get rid of it. Talk about a trigger, everytime I click the msn messenger icon I get auto logged into an account that I hate.
Searched all over for how to delete login names on msn messenger. At least deleted them from auto login and from the pull down menu.
Can anyone help?

Try going into HELP & SETTINGS at the top toolbar of your home screen. Once there, you'll see all sorts of help options. Ignore those. Side bar will have a SHOW ALL SETTINGS link. Go there. In the first section, you should see ADD/REMOVE USERS. If you click on that I think you can remove that old username.
Snow

snl.. I tried the cookie thing to no avail.

Snowwhite ... I'm running Windows XP so I think the layout of my screen is different then yours. I was able to change so that is not show zorweb@hotmail as the default login.
"Click here to sing in as zorweb@hotmail.com...
Or, click here to sign in as someone else"
But the dern pull down menu on the "Or" still shows the account. On almost all other pulldowns in in Windows, a simple 'delete' key on a picked name will get rid of it.
one of my pet peeves.. msn does not always use consistent protocols.. it depends on who programed the window how it works.... yea yea it's getting better ... grip grip grip

Can anyone help me with this next step?

When you sign in, the dialog box has a small box in the lower left had corner"remember my name and pasword on this computer." If you sign on with the signon you want to use always and click on that box, that is what should show each and every time you sign on. Next thing, go to tools, options, accounts and check the .net passport account. Is this the one you don't like? If it is change it there to the one you want to use. As far as I know there is no other way to change this. Remember any user that uses the same computer needs to make the same change, if they use the sign on you don't like. The computer will remember and display the user signon of who used MSN messenger last.
Hope this helps

Another option- remove the entire program, and reinstall. Go to "start, settings, control panel, add/remove programs", then click "msn messenger", and uninstall it. You would lose any "buddy lists". Reinstall by downloading from MSN- it may be on your MSN home page, or go to http://messenger.msn.com/ and download. You may want to delete your entire browser cache, and all cookies, in between uninstalling and re-installing (in IE 6, you can do this from the "tools, options" setting, or go to your "temporary internet files" folder and delete everything. Some cookies will remember your passwords to sites, so you may have to log into sites when you visit them the next time.
