on friday my sons kindergarten class hosted a mother's day tea. they sang us the most beautiful song and we played bingo for prizes. had cookies and tea and got a beautifull placemat from our child that they made. then came the embarrassing part-the teacher asked them questions...
what is your mommy good at???
my sons answer was- coloring peoples hair, she's good at it and makes a lot of money.

how old is your mommy???

29....i love this kid!!!

what do you like doing best with your mom???

going to the beach.(my son grew up down the jersey shore, we moved here more recently. im sad im not at the beach anymore)
they also put together your moms favorite recipe book. too funny to explain. my son however was the only child who got the whole recipe right-even the cooking and timing. i love him being in the kitchen with me.
anyway..happy mothersday all!!!

It reminds me of a poster I saw once:
In 100 years it will not matter what kind of car you drive,
How large the house you live is,
how much you had in your bank account,
what you did for a living,
What will matter is the influence that you had on a child, the love you showed, the forgivness you gave. The values you taught.
That will change the face of the earth.
OR something like that. I don't remember it exactly.
To all those mothers and fathers who are there for those childern Happy Mother's Day. May God bless each of the childeren whose lives we touch.
Music

I am on the verge of tears this Mother's Day weekend.
It has been such a hard year and I am so emotionally raw.
My mother had moved to Phoenix w/ my youngest sister... my other younger sister moved there too... To make a very LONG story short, she moved back to Michigan about a month ago. Neither sister called me to tell me and my mother only did after she was there. It took ten years for her to meet my H... and she had only seen my children one time before when the youngest was born three years ago. I was looking forward to her being close and connecting w/ her grandsons.
On the upside, my H who called OW last year to wish her a Happy Mother's Day... but did squat for me... made dinner reservations early this week and has 'something' planned. I also heard him telling the boys that 'we' would make breakfast for mommy in the morning.
I am reading "Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood" and am loving every word... I think Viv is right... You just have to LIVE and LIVE well.
Hugs of happiness to all MB MOMS and DADS!

Jo, thank you so much
Just a word of hope to some of the other mom's out there.
Last year, I spent Mother's Day at home with my kids - I dyed my hair, painted my toenails and played really loud music while I cleaned the house. I celebrated ME.
I had served my H with divorce papers only a few weeks before.
This year, my H is upstairs snoozing in our bed while I'm contently pecking away at the computer - wearing my flannel pjs and a lovely diamond and topaz ring that was my Mother's Day gift from him
Life never does the expected thing..does it! Happy Mothers Day!
I cleaned this morning & am going to go to the beach this afternoon. After that, the kids & I are going to go out to eat.

The kids had cards & flowers downstairs when I woke up. That made me feel good.
WH should be home sometime today (probably this evening.)
JO- thanks for your support Fri night.
God Bless,
D.

Happy Mothers Day as well!!
My son is 5 and for Mothers Day I received an album of sorts he made at school. Each of the kids describe their mothers. It's so cute. Here's what my son wrote:
"My mommy's eyes are brown and her hair is black. She is 36. Height - I don't really know about it. She's medium. I weighed myself and I am 45 pounds so .. I think she weighs about 50. I remember her weighing herself but I don't remember how much. She works at home. She works all over the house like cleaning and going on the computer. We play bingo. She is good at helping me out in jams on the computer. I love it when we go to sleep together."

Aren't kids just the greatest!
Have a great day all!
H&S

Just an update,
Mother's Day didn't start out so great. I was even crying on the way to the beach & told youngest S that this was a crappy Mother's Day.
The beach was WONDERFUL, great breeze, the water felt sooooo good & youngest son wanted me to play in the water so I did. It was fun, and relaxing.
After the beach, we pick up WH @ the airport & head home. WH didn't even get me a card. The cards from the kids were funny and very appropriate (well thought out cards).
Here's the part that really got to me - my youngest S made a card for me & it said:
I tried to give you money,
but I didn't have enough.
I try to give you love
especially when yuo love me back
So I got this for you Mom,
I hope you like it,
Love,
S
PS I hope this was your best Mother's Day.
I cried, when I thought of what I had said earlier about a crappy Mother's Day.
What a great kid!
