Running by No Doubt
Run Running all the time Running to the future With you right by my side.
Me I'm the one you chose Out of all the people You wanted me the most I'm so sorry that I'm falling Help me up, let's keep on running Don't let me fall out of love
Running, running As fast as we can I really hope you make it (Do you think we'll make it?) We're running Keep holding my hand It's so we don't get separated
Be Be the one I need Be the one I trust most Don't stop inspiring me Sometimes it's hard to keep on running We work so much to keep it going Don't make me want to give up
Running, running As fast as we can I really hope you make it (Do you think we'll make it?) We're running, keep holding my hand It's so we don't get separated
[repeat chorus]
The Future......
[repeat chorus]
---------------------------
It's a really pretty-sounding song, too. And for those still in the throes of the hell of D-day :
Don't Speak by No Doubt
You and me We used to be together Every day together always
I really feel I'm losing my best friend I can't believe This could be the end
It looks as though you're letting go And if it's real Well I don't want to know
Don't speak I know just what you're saying So please stop explaining Don't tell me 'cause it hurts Don't speak I know what you're thinking I don't need your reasons Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Our memories They can be inviting But some are altogether Mighty frightening
As we die, both you and I With my head in my hands I sit and cry
Don't speak I know just what you're saying So please stop explaining Don't tell me 'cause it hurts Don't speak I know what you're thinking I don't need your reasons Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
It's all ending I gotta stop pretending who we are
You and me I can see us dying...are we?
Hush, hush, darling
[ May 13, 2002: Message edited by: Conqueror ]

Don't Speak hit close to home for me too....cried every time I heard it last summer... especially the "I'm losing my best friend"...
Lot's of songs to cheer me up & bring me down that is for sure.. the new U2 song came out around that time that I helped me tell myself to get "myself together" and try to get over it...
It was "Stuck In a Moment" by U2
lyrics are:
I am not afraid of anything in this world There's nothing you can throw at me that I haven't already heard I'm just trying to find, a decent melody A song that I can sing, in my own company
I never thought you were a fool But darling, look at you You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight These tears are going nowhere, baby
You've got to get yourself together You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it Don't say that later will be better now you're stuck in the moment And you can't get out of it
I will not forsake, the colors that you bring But the nights you filled with fireworks They left you with nothing I am still enchanted by the light you brought to me I still listen through yours ears, and through your eyes I can see
And you are such a fool To worry like you do I know it's tough, and you can never get enough Of what you don't really need now….my oh my
You've got to get yourself together You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it Oh love look at you now You've got yourself stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it
I was unconscious, half asleep The water is warm till you discover how deep… I wasn't jumping…for me it was a fall It's a long way down, to nothing at all
You've got to get yourself together You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it Don't say that later will be better now you're stuck in the moment And you can't get out of it
And if the night runs over And if the day won't last And if our way should falter Along the stony pass
And if the night runs over And if the day won't last And if our way should falter Along the stony pass It's just a moment This time will pass

Brokenhearted, Wings, Hurtbuthealing,
Isn't it interesting how we go through stages, how the "Don't Speak" stage eventually turns into the "you better tell me everything" stage?
I really identified with the "Running" song because I feel like I'm running ahead of him in understanding all these principles (and most important what I can and cannot live with) and looking back, hoping he'll catch up so I won't give up.
Hurtbuthealing, thanks for the U2 lyrics. I haven't heard that one, but it is perfect for where I am now, too. I keep telling myself to find ways to live so that I am not defined by this. I think it was in one of Barbara Johnson's books where someone thought of the horrible times in her life like something written in parentheses in the story of her life. She described her desperation to reach the "ending" parenthesis, so her real life could resume. Hope we all get to our ) ASAP!

I just had my d-day, so this is new to me. Here is the song I've been listing to a lot.
Soundgarden Superunknown (1994) Fell On Black Days
Whatsoever I've feared has Come to life Whatsoever I've fought off Became my life Just when everyday Seemed to greet Me with a smile Sunspots have faded And now I'm doing time Cause I fell on Black days
Whomsoever I've cured I've sickened now Whomsoever I've cradled I've put you down I'm a search light soul They say but I can't See it in the night I'm only faking When I get it right Cause I fell on Black days How would I know That this could be my fate
So what you wanted to See good has made you blind And what you wanted to Be yours has made it Mine So don't you lock up Something that you Wanted to see fly Hands are for shaking No not tying
I sure don't Mind a change But I fell on black Days How would I know That this could be My fate
