i know this sounds crazy but everytime i need something, god sends me a message in the form of animals.
the first time was when it all started and i wanted to die. on my way home i hit 3 deer with my truck, it was a very emotional night before this happened and i cried for days after. i somehow came to the realization that if i was so upset about these animals, what would the people i leave behind be like. i never thought of dying again.
the second was in another down period and i needed a lift, so i kept praying for something to happen. my son heard noises outside at 5 am and i went out and out of nowhere this 150lb rottweiller takes me to the ground. before i could do anything, even scream, the dog starts licking my face and keeps me pinned there till someone came to help. just kept kissing me. i laughed for the first time since all this started that day.
then today, i woke up and was very blue for no apparent reason. i recognized the blues and knew it was not gonna be a good day. was tired and didnt want to do anything. then all of a sudden my youngest comes running in screaming. our dog found and did something horrible to a rabbits nest. i wont go into it. the boys were telling me the "mice were screaming." i went to look and realized what she did. she has never done anything like this before. i also realized they werent mice, but baby rabbits. i walked all over the yard looking for bodies,it was very sad. i found five, i sat and cried. while i was sitting in the grass i felt something on my hand, one was still alive, i missed this one. much smaller than the rest, the runt. i then started searching again, i found another. this one was slightly hurt. i finished looking with these two snuggled in my arm next to my heart. i noticed they calmed down and went to sleep. i found no others. i cleaned them up and brought them in the house and stayed with them for awhile. they are so little, still have remains of umbilical cord and their eyes arent even open. i spent the day taking care of them.(i called wildlife rescue and they told me what to do.) i renested them and am praying momma comes back, if she doesnt i will step in. took up my whole day. i all of a sudden realized i wasnt blue anymore.
i just keep wondering why in the form of animals??

Animals still give even when in reality they are only taking, ie. the rabbits nuzzled in your arm. Animals remind us of how small we really are, and we are not in control as much as we think. Animals give us the opportunity to be very kind and give the love we have stored away because sometimes we are too afraid to share it with someone because of our hurt. They look at us soulfully and love us skinny or fat, freshly showered, or covered in grime. Animals are the innocense in all of us, and help remind us that it is still in our make up. They show us we still have something very valuable to give, when we think we have nothing left. They are a gift from God and one of His most powerful messengers.

Have fun taking care of those bunnies... my fondest memory of my dad when I was a kid was when he ran over a nest while cutting grass, but managed to save one baby bunny. He nurtured the bunny and we all took turns feeding him formula. My dad is a 300 pound man and was pretty mean when I was growing up, so this was really neat to see... we named the bunny carrot and he thrived in our care.
Maybe you'll see a different part of your H while the bunnies are around???

((( NIKKO )))
My 16-year-old bipolar/ADHD/oppositional defiant son could ONLY relate to his dog at one time ... for quite awhile, actually. "Buffy" literally saved his life when he thought he wanted to die. She gave him a reason to live.
God bless you and all those animals.
Pepper

SFMC,
I love your ideas about "why animals", and agree completely. I LOVE animals, always have. It's something soulful.
{{{{{{{ Nikko }}}}}}} ... God loves you, but more importantly He knows you well enough to send you messages thru the most innocent of creatures to touch your heart and say "I'm here Nikko, I hear you and will never abandon you".
That's just my humble opinion.

it is amazing-they really believe im the mom. god i hope i can do this.
last night i had them out for a feeding and put them on the livingroom floor-they were still in box. as soon as they either heard me or smelled me they started to go nuts. they tried to get out of box and were trying to get at me. i put them on the floor and they would wobble away and come right back. i hope their eyes open soon.

Something you might try with the bunnies: Put a heating pad, on the low setting, under half of the box. We did that with baby kittens. It helps them rest and feel more secure.
I love the step-Mom/Dad thing!!
