Hi firefly.
Nice to meet you, and I can pretty much guess you don't know much about me (I'm laughing here) because my boundries ain't gonna help you a bit honey. I'd love to help in any way I could, but my situation well...
Nutshell- [censored] serial cheater, bona fide sex addict, crack whores and all. Divorce looming, he is in relationship with 23 yo cutie, and he has an accident on a construction site and falls four and one half stories. Needless to say he is pretty much messed up. He no longer fits into what the bimbette wants (money, sex, bar hopping) so she bails. We have 2 small kids, and I am left holding the bag with taking care of him. I try to handle things on my own for almost 2 years from the accident, but just can't anymore.
He is now in housing for the disabled, and although social services is doing more and more to take care of him, I still am pretty much calling the shots.
No heart attack, the kids and I are doing just fine.
We are now divorced, as of Feb. The reason for the boundries is that being a caregiver is taxing. Especially if you don't like the person you are taking care of.
He would call at all hours of the night, not for any reason. He would call, talk, we would hang up and two minutes later the phone would ring again.
He called me when I was out for pizza with the kids to tell me he was out of peanut butter. I had turned off my cell, but he HAD ME PAGED! Ack!
He cries about being lonely and I felt as if I had to rush over there with the kids and play happy family.
Anyway,
My boundries have to do with phone calls - how often, what times, to what numbers.
To the extent I will care for him, driving to dr appts, making and keeping track of appts.
Getting meds from the store and being the delivery lady.
What is acceptable as far as spending time with the kids and I.
I'd love to help in any way I could. But my boundries list won't work for anyone else, I can bet a million!
What are you trying to accomplish? I don't even know your story, so either email me, or we can hammer some stuff out here. Whatever you feel more comfortable with.
BOUNDRIES ARE AWESOME
E
