Just a quick update on some things that have happened:
For the last week, I suspected that something was going on with W, she was avoiding me, not talking to me, hiding in her room or leaving whenever I came over. Her whole attitude was different and I suspected that OM might be back in the picture. My suspicions were realized a few days ago when D-2 told me W still talks to OM. I asked her how she knew, she told me she checks the call list on the cell phone. Can you believe that, a 12 year old snooping like a BS! Later on D-1 told me that she has seen W emailing OM and figured out their 'call me' game where he lets the phone ring a few times and hangs up as a signal for W to call him back.
A couple of days ago, W told me she wants to take a road trip back to her hometown for the weekend to visit old friends, said she needs to get away for a few days to think things through. The storm warning flags went up and I figured this was just an excuse to be with OM for the weekend. But, in my best Plan A efforts, I didn't say anything, just told W that if she felt a need to get away for a while, then it was ok with me and hoped the road trip helped her feel better.
So last night W called me to finalize the logistics of the trip, even asked me if I could get her a roadmap and find out if there were any construction zones or other hazards along the way. Then W told me not to worry about any strange calls while I am staying at the house. I have told her before that I don't answer the phone there anymore because I don't want to take a chance of it being OM. So, she tells me it wont be, that she is finally through with him and wont be having anymore contact with him whatsoever. All I could say is that I was glad she was done with him, that all he did was bring her down, but that I have heard this too many times before, but hope it is true this time. Then she asks (or tells me?) "where did we go wrong, why did we let things happen to cause this mess to be like it is?" I started to tell her that I know I have taken her for granted and didn't treat her as good as she deserves, but the kids started fighting (love those kids, really know how to time things just right) and had to go. W called back later but didn't say anything more and I didn't push the issue.
So, yes, slowly making progress. I think this is the first time W has mentioned anything about "where we went wrong" and hopefully we will have more opportunities to talk about this and what we can do to make things better. This weekend should also have a very significant impact on our relationship, I think W is really trying to sort things out and having OM out of the picture will make things so much easier for her.
Keep y'all posted.

loverherstill,
I am glad to see you are trying and I hope you are wrong about your suspicions. My biggest concern is that you would let your twelve year old fill you in on things that are none of her business.
This is a great sign of disrespect and if you are truly working on your marriage.. Your children should not be a party to this and I hope your daughter was told to not do this again. I also think you should tell your wife what was said. The fact that your daughter need to keep tabs on mom and tattle to you is a sign that the children are in need of some help through this.
I wish you all the best and please dont take offense, but that was very unsettling.
