Okay folks... time for an update... (Seems like things are really happening for a lot of people around here lately - check the moon, someone!)
As many of you know, I went away on a trip, by myself recently. It was me, taking care of me. I also got WW to take care of my rented house and our cats while I was gone. I did this for 3 reasons, notwithstanding the existence of Plan B: 1) to let her see my place, that I'm doing just fine there without her, 2) let her reconnect with some memories there (cats at least), 3) she's trustworthy to take care of the place - a lot of my friends don't live all that close.
Before I left, I left a business card in a fairly inconspicuous place, wedged in "The Language of Letting Go". I had no expectation that WW would snoop, but I know human nature - by looking at myself, sadly, I suppose.
Here's the deal: we all know I've been talking about the possibility of moving away, right? Steve doesn't think it's a good idea to just do it - until I'm done, since there's no POJA involved in such a unilateral decision. However, do I come out and say, "I'm really thinking about moving"? Plan B or no Plan B, we are still married, and there are some serious decisions on the horizon - as other have noted, as much mine as hers. And I've become more determined than ever to move forward, one way or another.
So rather than tell her "I'm doing THIS!" and it coming across as a threat, is there a better, more subtle way to communicate the same kind of thing? Well, my idea was again formulated on a possibility - not a gaurantee. I wanted her to realize the depth and seriousness of the situation, because we are getting to such a point - and in some ways, no matter how much I know she needs to fall down herself - she also deserves to have some knowledge, rather than be blindsided.
I had seriously considered a sit-down, face-to-face discussion - soon. But my leaving this small thing in my own house - I knew might say something to her also - the same weight, but maybe less "in your face". It would not say "I'm DOING THIS" - but might say "I'm seriously considering my options, and they could involve THIS."
Well, she found this card with a name and address in Victoria, for a company who had a job posting. I talk to a lot of people in my field - I actually really like to interview and be interviewed - for me, it makes me stay "sharp." So my talking to someone about a job doesn't mean I'm as good as gone - it should mean "I'm curious."
I noticed on the day I was making my way back here that WW had called my cell, but left no message. This seemed odd, since we'd not talked other than by e-mail since I left - Plan B and all.
I had a session with Steve the day after I got back. I asked him... should I contact WW about XYZ (can't recall exactly what it was now). He said, well - okay - and why not tack on "I miss you"? So I did send her a brief e-mail along those lines...
That seemed to open the flood-gates a bit... I'm seeing her tone change, big time. She called last night - was somewhat important - and she sounded like she was talking to her boyfriend - me! Some of her latest messages to me sound like they were written to OM at the beginning of this all! (Sure a whole lot of smiley faces! )
From what I'm starting to see here, it looks like WW may be shifting over into serious pursuit mode.
I know, I know... Plan B requires me to get agreement on a plan before breaking it... But... We also need to find a way to make our way back to each other - this is about having love at its roots, hence Steve's suggestion, I suppose... Folks with kids have that always there - we don't, and I know Steve has made references to this for me in the past. Having her seriously pursuing, if handled well, can work to reinforce her feelings of love. I've just got a certain "gut feeling" about how to play this out... Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong - but either way, it won't change the final END outcome, if we're not meant to be.
What I'm seeing as a possibility right now is this... CarolKH's story... If she's honestly switching to pursuit mode, I can continue to back off - gratify a little bit, but stay the distancer, until she's starting to make the commitments I need. If she doesn't make them, I can toughen back up... In fact, I can do more than just simply Plan B - I can go directly to my "talk" that would have been coming up shortly anyway. Such a talk would really put it on the line... and I do have a strong feeling about the outcome (although no gaurantees)... (it would be her breaking down and moving away with me, committing to a plan, etc. I think OM/EA/PA has fizzled - I have my reasons to believe such.)
I think separation itself has been as much "reality" for her as Plan B... that was one of the purposes of my recent poll... seems to be showing that separation is there about 85% of the time with the successful cases here anyhow - but Plan B is only followed strictly less than 1/3 of the time. I've done a pretty decent Plan B to date... I think she starting to get the message, but we'll see.
My attitude of "I can go either way" is possibly going to help me in the short-term here. I'm cautiously optimistic. I know the pitfalls - been here long enough to know... That's why I think SLOW, STEADY and watch her actions, not her words. Am I hearing a "popping noise"? (Picture head out of butt.)
She's going to bring over some important mail I got, tomorrow evening... will be the first we've seen each other in 6 weeks.
I'll post more mini-updates over the next couple of days...

LOL!! Popping noises....could be butt popping...could also be the neighbor making popcorn. Any buttery smells going along with the noises??? LOL!!!
Hey, do whatever you gotta do. Getting her into pursuit mode is part of the plan!! So if she's doing that, that's GREAT! BUT!!!! (yup, here comes my BIG BUT again) Just remember...you can't afford a false recovery. I don't mean financially...I mean...rush forward too fast and wind up in false recovery...and you will most likely be done. I'd HATE to see that happen...especially when things are coming along so well.
So yes...S...L...O...W...L...Y...move forward if you feel it's helping. Just don't become her crutch...and don't help her become comfortable again.
All in all I'd say it's good news!!!

Hey vancouver Island wannabe! You are certainly sounding more optimistic! Congrats! I have to second the others opinions. Slow and steady wins the race. One suggestion about your possible move (the statement about considering your options is excellent) is to say you need a fresh start/new beginning with or without her, preferably with her. If she can feel included she may not get so defensive. Continue with your plan B, take care of yourself. Do your part to make the marriage work, if she doesn't do hers...well there is your answer about whether or not the two of you are meant to be!
A move would certainly put the OM out of the picture, making no contact much easier to stick to. Tough call...I know this doesn't really help now and it is cliched but, time will tell how all of this will play itself out!
Pssssttt....Nani Nani Boo Boo I'm going camping this weekend at one of the coastal campgrounds here on the island. Will have a beer for you!

J.R.,
Yeap, that's why there is no one size fits all in MB or plan A/B to be exact ... and we need professional guide to help us up. SH tried to tell me to leave the door open ... even in the mist of plan B and Dv. Time for you to get back to plan A for you ... w/ a twist

Well, here's another update...
So, I did end up seeing WW on the 17th - our anniversary BTW. I wasn't interested in anything too over the top, but just a brief chance to "keep my name" in front of her... and remind her indirectly that I'm doing fine without her.
She, on the other hand, appears to be as emotionally wrecked as ever... although she seemed happy to be around me, was talkative, was a better listener than she's been in a while, etc. - things kind of degraded for her eventually. She started crying, wanted a hug, went on and on about how she cares for me, is trying to sort herself out, etc., etc.
I was calm, pleasant, comforting (to a point), and very much "me". I can tell she's still as paralyzed as ever, but I think she's also becoming worried that I'm "slipping away" from her... she'd be right!
Before, her emotional flood would have been something I'd have allowed myself to be swept away in... this time, I stayed relatively detached - not uncaring - but detached with love. And it just seemed... I don't know... unattractive?? Not having seen her in 6 weeks, it suddenly seemed like 6 years.
She asked me about how I'm doing... and I let her know that it's difficult, but I'm doing okay - that I'm taking care of myself, and focusing on my own recovery. I didn't offer any reassurances, promises or cave in on any of my boundaries. I talked quite eagerly about my trip, and mentioned that I might do another one next month (Vancouver this time).
In all, I think she was very glad to have seen me... and whether she's actually "in pursuit" or not is questionable... I think she's still very confused. However, CarolKH didn't see changes with one single event... it's a process, and judging by her behavior patterns, I think she's definitely a candidate for pursuit, eventually. (She asked me if I was dating anyone - said "no", blasted honesty! )
She said this is all she thinks about 24 X 7... I wish she'd consider meds - would do a world of good, but I think IC/MC just thinks its "grief" and she can work through it... My question is "why?" when there are tools to help - and she's been in pain for a long time now.
Anyhow, if she actually slowed down her thinking, she could probably figure this all out quite easily. I know my trip did that for me in large measure... Reminds me of H4F's explanation of how until it seemed like the decision had been made and the future was all laid out that her mind could relax. That's probably what it'll take for WW, sadly.
But I'm doing fine. I was out late with a friend, so I'm tired... I'm not as young as I once was, and I'm reminded about why I enjoyed being M so much - not staying out till 4 in the morning!!
So I'm still contemplating what my next moves will be. Steve suggested I talk to some lawyers, as a way to quiet my Taker. I know I should probably prepare myself for an eventual talk with WW - got to be honest with where I'm at, where my feelings are going, etc. - when the time's right. I don't relish that thought. She's in a fragile state... but it's also somewhat indicative of where she's heading, too, I think.

You sound pretty good! I hope I can do the same in 6 weeks, if I have to go that long (or 2long!).
Your story has been a big help to me. Though our W's As are different, the things they do and say are very similar. Fog latin is universal, after all. But how you handle the situations you face has been helpful to me in knowing what to expect.
Thanks, and good luck,
