Yea, I know I know...I just HAD to get in on this button pushing deal...
So, the question is:
If you see a penny on the ground, do you stop and pick it up?

I always do, because we have been so poor at times that even a penny, when added to the other pennies we found, made all the difference! C

Well, hubby doesn't have a user name and password (and won't let me get him one) so he can't vote. But he agrees with you Firefly, he ALWAYS picks a penny up (as well as nuts, bolts, washers.....you NAME IT!!).

Hi sweetie!
Mr. Pepper keeps a giant empty plastic water jug in the closet and fills it with pennies. Last summer, he rolled the pennies and came home with $400 plus change!
So ... yes ... we pick up pennies!

We used to do that. We had several large containers FILLED with change (not JUST pennies). Then a tornado scattered them to the winds. We can still go to the old place and pick up nasty, dirty, aged pennies to this day. It kept the kids busy the day after the tornado...parents sent them to pick them up. My opinion...kids NEVER should have been there in the first place. All that glass and nails and you name it. But...whatever...
So...we don't keep more than a gallon jar on hand...then we take it in and deposit it (or play poker with it ).

Of course we pick them up. I remembered forever in the early years of my marriage, I didn't actually know you could buy those bungee straps at the store. (The ones that are stretchy with the hooks on each end) I thought you must only pick them up on the road!!!! my husband was FOREVER going back to get one!

The change container or penny jar is an American Institution! There should be one in every home. It's great to fill it, take it down to the change-counting machine and find you have a couple hundred that would otherwise have just been scattered throughout the house, washer, etc.

Always, Always do!!!
So what if it's only a penny, 62 of them is a cup of cappuccino, 75 of them is a diet coke, 99 of them is a burger.
It might take me some time to pick up that many pennies for any one of those items, but if I put it with what I already have then.......... I've tried to teach my kids that a penny does have value and that is why you pick it up!!
Just my 2 cents worth!!!

What a cool poll! I just had to answer, and it was so nice to have a different subject to discuss for a change. Have you ever heard of the 'pennies from heaven'? I read about it in Dear Abby, and it is kind of corny, but still really sweet. It goes that if you find a penny on the street, always check the date it was minted because it may have come from a dear departed loved one. Well, this morning I found five pennies on my morning walk! Some are so worn from being run over, I can't even see the date!! Oh well, it's five cents more than I had when I started this morning, so I don't plan to overlook this blessing.
In Abby's column, one lady wrote in to say that her husband always picks up the pennies, fills a large jar with them, then gives them to his local homeless shelter. He has done this multiple times over the years, and they are very appreciative of his efforts.
Have a great day!!
