How about a happy thoughts thread. (sounds like a disney movie "Peter Pan" <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> )

I use happy thoughts (or happy memories) to help me through rough times. What are your happy thoughts?

When I am having trouble sleeping or having trouble relaxing, I think about the times when I was a teenager and owned a small boat. Before sunrise, my Dad would drop me off at the nearby lake to fish. I would carefully speed the boat across the lake just as there was just enough light. I would stop at my favorite fishing hole and fish as I watched the sun rise. What a relaxing memory. This typically does the trick for me.

I have been struggling with my happy thought to help me at times when I am real sad. This morning I think I figured this one out. Even though it is hard to get up in the middle of the night to feed our seven month old boy, just holding him in my arms as he tucks his head against the bend in my elbow and places his cheek on my chest to drink his bottle, or when my three year old boy comes to the door of our bedroom at night while we are watching TV and we motion to him to climb in bed with us. He snugles up next to me and lays his head on my chest. This feeling is all I need to help turn my sad woes away. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

O.K. Please share your happy thoughts. Maybe you won't fly like Peter Pan, LOL <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> , but it would be fun to try.

Happy thoughts, I likey!

Waking up really early in summer mornings before the heat kicked in back home. Buying breakfast bread at the bakery right off the oven on my way back home from morning summer school.

Taking the subway or bus to go anywhere in town without having to give any kind of explanations. Just because I wanted to sight see.

Drawing copies of art pieces in museums under the expectant sight of Japanese tourists.

Trips with my friends all over the country. Escapades with only the clothes in our backs, the money we had saved all winter, and an uncanny desire for adventure.

Petting my cat and looking at her nap under the sun.

The noise rain makes when it hits the windows gently in the middle of a quiet autumn night.

Beach sand between my toes and fingers.

Summers spent in the swimming pool playing cards and parcheese with nothing else to do in life but enjoy.

Nights out with friends.

Chocolate!

Winter carnival in Venice.

The beaches of Lindos in the island of Rhodes, Greece.

Lisboa, Portugal.

Science fiction writters conventions with friends.

alostwife,

WOW!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> Those are some great ones.

How about watching a storm come in at night on the beach. The roll of thunder in the distance, the strong wind blowing in your face, the spark of lightning, the sound of the waves crashing the shore.

Oh definitely!!!

My favourite storms where in the middle of summer nights sitting by the shore, with beautiful small star shaped white flowers raining all over. It was so beautiful that we used to call that star shower when we were little. Then the rain would start and we would run in the hotel room and watch the storm fly towards the shore. It was exciting!

STORMS??? Are you guys NUTS?? I guess after losing everything in a tornado...storms do not bring about happy thoughts for me. More like a pasty faced panic attack.

Happy for me:

Painted toenails
Seeing my garden bloom and produce
Getting free seeds and plants from friends (and I always share mine too!) :-)
Blowing bubbles...if I need to get relaxed I just sit outside and blow bubbles.
Flying kites...although the winds here just don't seem to cooperate.
A sexy new red dress (and someone to show it off too!!)
Laughing about stupid things (being carefree like kids)

Just a few...

Hey Hope,

Storms are great. Lived through a small tornado myself (very very small). Wait!!!??? I am nuts!!! LOL LOL <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

I am so so so so so happy. I got a new car. Gave up the old clunker and finally bit the bullet. Blew the engine on the Honda civic (92). AC worked only 1/2 the time (winter only), headliner falling down in the back, stains all over the carpet, antenna broke off so rigged one in the car, speakers blown so they made funny noises, burned about a case of oil a month (off course my decision was based upon the environment LOL), so many dents and dings and scratches.

NEW HAPPY THOUGHT!!!!!!!!
2003 VW Passat GLX -- SWEET!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
I am 1/2 German so I guess it makes sense. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

"The beaches of Lindos in the island of Rhodes, Greece" !!!!!!!

Me too !!!!!! I was there when I was young and beautiful ... about a million years ago ..... <sigh>

"Europe is an oil painting ... while Greece is a watercolor" .... quote myself

I am going to bed tonight and dream of Rhodes ..... and the watercolor beaches of Lindos.
