Just wanted to let everyone know that I am home and doing fine, I have lots of staples, and I am sure they will bother me in 3 or 4 days.
I had surgery yesterday morning at 7:15 and was in my room at 9:40 and to the bathroom and walking by 2 pm. I had gastric banding, a little different then gastrice bypass, not quite as drastic. I will lose about 100-120 pounds in the next year. The lady that did some of my testing weighted 5 pounds less then me and was a 1/2" shorter and she has lost 120 lbs and is wear a size 8, I can't tell you if I ever wore a size 8, 10 I remember, my wedding dress!!!
I am feeling good and sipping my water and oh so looking forward to my jello supper!!
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, I appreciated them!! I will post pictures from time to time.
Nothing, notta from STBX, and that spoke very loudly to me!! I get it it's over!!!

Hi Dawn,
I'm glad that your surgery is behind you. I'm surprised that you are home so soon. Hope you have a speedy recovery and that those pounds just slip away. Do you have to have liquid food now? From now on?
Take care, Estes

Dawn,
Glad you are doing well. One of my friends had this or the other. She is doing really well. When she gets to my size then I am going to start working on it.
Good luck

Thanks all!!!
No liquid for 3-4 weeks and then smaller portions of soft food working my way back to regular food.
The stomach pouch is smaller so it doesn't take as much to fill it!!! Kind of drastic, but I was concerned for my health, diabetes, High Blood Pressure and MS run in my family, I was already on BP meds, didn't want to go thru the rest of my life overweight!!
Thanks for the concern and prayers. Dawn

Hi Dawn: I am glad you are doing well! Funny, a co-worker recommended this to me last week.
I have roughly 30lbs to lose, but at the grand old age of 34, I just walked out of the doctors office after being told I am one blood pressure reading away from hypertension, and that I am very likely diabetic.
Fortunately the project I work on is women's cardiovascular health, so I work with alot of expert doctors and knowledgable people
But anyway, one mentioned to me, after discussing my terrible time with losing weight despite a totally changed diet and excercise routine, that gastric banding might be a good option for me.
Let us know how it works for you, I'll be interested, thats for sure! [ August 22, 2002, 09:36 PM: Message edited by: BrambleRose ]

Saw this last night, but didn't respond.
Congrats Dawn! I'm glad the surgery went well, and GOOD LUCK!! Keep us posted. I've always struggled with weight issues, so I can understand the frustrations!!

Thanks for all the support from all!!!
I did go shopping for some different food items, I can have cream of wheat, yogurt, jello, broth and pudding for the first month. So am feeling good about having some variety. I do see someone eating something or I see a commercial and it's like I would like the item, usually the texture or the smell is what has intrigued me, I am not hungary though and I don't need the item. So far so good in the craving department!!!
Hey Lor, I have to be on your side of town Tuesday afternoon, you gonna be around?

Hi Dawn, Glad you are doing so well! I have thought about having that done too, but can't stand the thought of going through surgery! I guess I am just a big ole chicken when it comes to stuff like that! Hope it goes well for you and the pounds drop like crazy!!! BH

bh,
The surgery didn't scare me a bit!! What scares the h3$% out of me is having the staples taken out!!!
I'm having my jello and cream of wheat for supper, still haven't had any hunger pains. Did push it a little to hard earlier today, so am pretty wiped now!!
