My H might be getting relocated with his job to Houston. I have found a great site with apartment listings, etc, but what I was wanting to know, is what are the decent neighborhoods there. We dont want as upscale as you can get but we dont want a bad neighborhood either. A nice middle class neighborhood would do...lol.
Since there are so many of you that go to the lunches in Houston I figured this would be as good of a place as any to get some feedback on what neighborhoods are nice there. Any help you could give us would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Ann & Charlie

There are nice parts all over town, with good schools.
What part of town will you H be working in?
I'll suggest a couple of areas nearby (as close as possible to have less than a 1 hour commute, LOL!!!)with good quality living and schools.

Figured we would throw that question in while we were at it...lol. Thanks! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

That's too many ALC, let's wait until monday when you know where he'll work, and I'll be happy to do it then.
There are nice areas North of town, North-West, West, South-West, and South so there could be hundreds of neighborhoods to start listing!!!
Do you have kids? Ages?
Do you want a house or condo/apartment/townhome?

Plenty of fishing clubs and tournaments, etc.
I don't know details because I'm not involved, but I see the ads and bumper-stickers all over! And my BIL is a fisherman.

I live in Kingwood, which is northeast of Houston, and we love it. The schools are great! If Cisco is downtown, it's going to be a pretty long drive from here...45 min. to an hour. the Woodlands/Spring area is very nice too. It's north of Houston. I'm partial to the northern suburbs because I teach school, and I have taught in the Conroe, Spring and Humble school systems and they are all top notch. Good luck in your move. KK

well, if you have school age kids the one thing you will want to do is watch the school district or in the case of HISD the school,
if no kids, get as close as you like for work & I think anyway you go you will be able to find fishing, as SCsays if you go by the bumber stickers out this way SW & I am farther south & west than he is, the fishing must be good somewhere close by.
good luck. be ready for 11 mths of summer. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

We have 3 kids, one 12, one 7 and one 3yrs. So schools are important too. An apartment or a townhouse will do for now and maybe later after were there for awhile we will look in to a house there.
I have some questions about these areas;
Is Baytown and okay area?
Is Cypress an okay area?
Is Deer Park and okay area?
And... I'm going to list some street names, if you know the street and it's in an okay area please let me know...
Watonga Blvd. W Sunforest Dr Antoine Dr. Corporate Dr. Domfries Bammelwood Dr. Flemming Maxey Rd. W. Airport Blvd. Campbell Rd. Boone Rd. Imperial Valley Dr. Nathaniel St. Deats Rd. Creekbend Rd. Grow Ln. Pinemont Bankside Dr. Briar Forest Dr. Blalock Rd. S Dairy Ashford St. Bellairie Blvd.
Any help you can can give would be greatly appreciated......
Spacecase.. I will let you know where Cisco is located once we find out on Monday... thank you!

http://www.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/account/2002/index.htmllink is to school ratings. easiest way is to go to region 4 or you might be looking at some in region 6. if you look st FT Bend ISD, don't pay attention to rating, as a new school got DQ & the district has to be rated. the school was DQ due to playing with test results.

Ann, I live in Houston. The area your husband is going to work is close to the Beltway and Katy Freeway. I would go on the outskirts of Houston and take the drive in to work. So I would live either in Katy or close to Katy in Katy School District off Barker Cypress, Fry or Mason Road, or I would choose off 290 in Cypress, which is Cypress Fairbanks school districts. I've also heard Deerfield Village is a good area. Here's the streets I know that you listed... Antoine Dr. NO W. Airport Blvd. NO Campbell Rd. NO Boone Rd. NO Briar Forest Dr. okay...in most areas...but wouldn't want to live there. Blalock Rd. NO S Dairy Ashford St. NO Bellairie Blvd. NO With three children I would look for a temporary home to rent until I could buy a house instead, you would probably be paying just as much. Go here... http://maps.yahoo.com/Type in the address and you can see where he will be. If you go west or north west, that's pretty much the area I am talking about. Good luck with your move and when you get into town let me know, perhaps we can do lunch or dinner. BTW, I usually don't like giving out any info on my location in Houston but I will tell you my children go to Katy school district and we love it. Also feel free to email me anytime. Take care, ANNA P.S. If your husband likes salt water fishing, there's Galveston, Port Aransas so forth, if it's fresh water, there's lakes close by and lots of camping areas.
