When I found this recipe I thought it was perfect for people, like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is cooked thoroughly but not dried out.
GIVE IT A TRY.
>10-12 lb. Turkey >1 cup melted butter >3 cups stuffing >2 cups uncooked popcorn >salt/pepper to taste
>Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush Turkey well with melted butter, salt and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of oven. Listen for popping sounds.
When the Turkey's a$$ blows the oven door open and it flies across the room, it's done.
And, you thought I couldn't cook. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

ROFLMAO!!! Thanks for sharing! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
It reminds me of a drawing I have on the side of the fridge (where the kids can NOT see it). It shows a bunch of "Sesame Street" characters seated at a table for thanksgiving dinner. On the platter on the table is their big (cooked) "bird"!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> I thought it was HILARIOUS!!! But I dare not let the kids see it, or else they'll end up with nightmares or something. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />

LOL! Thanks, Blindsided.
Hey I have a funny BUT true turkey story.
So, I'm at my in-laws for Thanksgiving. And the turkey we got that year is HUMONGOUS, like a 25 lb'er. (every year it gets bigger)
At the tail end of the turkey cooking, the house starts to smell like burnt rubber, instead of turkey. We investigate and no where reveals the source of rubber burning. So we ignore it.
!DING! the turkey is done. Yuuuummmm
We pull it outta the oven and turn it over, and what is stuck on the bottom of the turkey? The RUBBER sink stopper ......

Here's another one.
We're at the in-laws. This time it's a 26 lb'er, but self basting. Woo Hoo!
We're all waiting patiently for 2:00p because that's when this delectable moist turkey is to emerge from the oven.
!Ding! the turkey is done! Yuuummmmm
We pull it out of the oven, pull the foil open and low and behold ... someone forgot to set the oven setting to the ON position. They did remember the timer tho .. UGHHHH!
That was the P & J sandwich Thanksgiving. <small>[ November 12, 2002, 04:03 PM: Message edited by: Resilient ]</small>

Someone sent me an email yesterday of this Turkey that was prepared in an unusual manner. Prior to cooking, the creative chef made a bikini cut out from tin foil and covered the turkeys breast and legs with it. After baking, they removed the foil. It looked as if the Turkey was sunbathing and had gotten a nice tan!
Very Funny.
