I was wondering if anyone went to see a psychic to 'forsee' how your future would pan out, and what your experience was? The thought has crossed my mind to do this, the 'unknown' is driving this Aries crazy! I'm the kind that wants results yesterday and patience is NOT one of my good virtues, although I'm certainly learning it!
Please post your experiences with any kind of readings you may have had, if only for others to have fun and read.

Well, so long as it's in fun and all, I guess it would be okay. It's no accident that shows like "Crossing over with John Edwards" are on the SciFi channel, though!
Just remember, when having your for2ne told, that the people that do these things are not credentialed, or at least not in the way that professional therapists are. As long as you don't put stock in their "predictions", you can't get hurt, right?

Isn't "Psychic's Wisdom" an oxymoron?
...Sorry, couldn't resist.
If you really have money to spend on advice why not use it to counsel with the Harley's? You're likely to get more bang for your buck.

Ok, here's my take on the whole psychic thing...Crossing Over, included:
Just where does their "wisdom" come from? (I'm talking about those who aren't just greedy con-artists.) It sure doesn't come from God, so it must come from satan. Why in the world would you want to get ANYTHING from satan? His whole "thing" is destruction.
My advice would be to stay away from that kind of junk...it's just a bad idea to open yourself up to stuff like that.
I agree with Jeffers. Spend that money on some good counceling instead.

Well, many psychics *do* say that their powers come from God -- Sylvia Brown, for one.
But I agree that there is no reason to pay money to these people. If you really want to do a bit of fortune-telling, buy yourself a pack of tarot cards -- find a set you really like -- and use them yourself. It's very easy. And there is nothing sinister about the tarot, though ouija boards may be another story.

A couple of years ago we went to a convention for my WH's business. They had a tarot card reader and a palmist (are those the right names?). Anyway, some of my friends and I weren't going to do it and then we did - we went to the palm reader. It was free and we thought it could be a hoot. She accused me of not being totally honest with her about wether I was happy or not. She also said that I would have a life changing experience around the age of 40 and that life would be smooth and happy after that. Hearing that at that time always bothered me. I didn't tell H about it because I thought that would not be good news to him.
I think at the time I was happy but last couple of years - maybe no. Is this the life changing experience??? If so, I hope that means I am on my way to being smooth and happy in my life. We'll see...
My advice - if you want to go - take a couple grains of salt with you and be prepared for disturbing news.

I've never seen a psychic, but I've always wanted to!
The "sense" runs in my family, although, it isn't as strong anymore. My maternal grandmother used to be able to see into the future. She decided to make some money on it (this is in the late 1940's and into the 50's), and her gift started to go sour, and she was only able to see BAD futures. She gave it up after that. Then my mum was big on premonitions (sp?). She would have them all the time. Now, it's me, but all I experience is lots of deja vu.... and even then, it's diminishing as I get older. However, I also believe that a lot of my "gut instincts", about people and their character, has a lot to do with a psychic sense. (kind of like being able to see peoples' "auras", but internally, as opposed to externally).
I do believe in psychic abilities, however, b/c of my grandmother's experience, I'm wary about paying someone to tell me. I bought myself some Tarot cards over 10 yrs ago, but have never taken the time to learn them properly. Maybe one day, I'll do that... once I get this marital trouble crap out of my way!

I was so tired of dealing with the unknown so I did an online psychic reading via email. I know I know...how on EARTH could that work. It did have a disclaimer that it was for entertainment value only. Anyway...they were WAAAAAAAY off...so it was a big fat waste of money.

She accused me of not being totally honest with her about wether I was happy or not. Of course you weren't. You never met her before and she thinks you are going to spill your guts to her? No she didn't. She makes money by telling people news which she can "predict" because it will happen to a majority of people.
"Someone in the audience who lost a parent? Name begins with an S? Sara, Sheila, Sherry, or something like that?" Blah, blah, blah...
She also said that I would have a life changing experience around the age of 40 and that life would be smooth and happy after that. Wow. That fits about 1/2 the population.
Now you know why Miss Cleo & plas were told by the courts they had to write off $500 million in telephone charges to customers. Yes, that is the correct number. $500,000,000.00 [ November 22, 2002, 04:36 PM: Message edited by: Chris (CA123) ]

Chris, Omigosh, are you saying that all a psychic has to do is make high probability guesses until one "hits"????? Then the mark is wowed by his perception? I'm shocked!!!! You did misrepresent the Miss Cleo thing, though. The court case was about billing fraud. Callers were promised free bogus advice and then charged for it and hounded until they paid. Sadly, no part of the case had anything to do with the veracity of the "readings." FTC case Jeffers

Sylvia Browne...do you know she charges $700 for a phone reading? Wowww, that's quite a profit on a gift from God!
I've often wondered--IF these people are so psychic, why don't they just pick the winning numbers for the lotto, thereby having enough personal money to give away their "gift" to those in need.

I think psychics are only mildly amusing but I would never take one seriously. Especially Sylvia Browne. After reading the first chapter of her book I was astonished at how very little common sense she possesses. She lives in a fantasy world and just sort of makes things up as she goes along.

OK, one last word on psychics: I basically agree with you, but I do remember Sylvia Browne saying months ago that Chandra Levy was dead and her body would be found in a low, wet area of Rock Creek Park. She was and it was. Would love to know how close Sylvia's been on all her other readings, if she was close at all or if this one was just a perceptive guess. Hey, I figured the girl -- who was an OW, by the way -- was already dead, too.

I must admit that I read Tarot cards for myself, and that I have with lots of trepidation them a number of times since my husband reported his affair to me in October 2001.
Each time the cards have shown a great deal of turmoil and disruption in my life, including a move. But a peaceful ending always seems to be indicated.
On October 1 of this year, I finally made the move that the cards had foreshadowed, and life is beginning to settle down. True to the cards, my life during the past year has been extremely chaotic. Now if I can just figure out which box I packed my cards in, I'd like to take another reading and see if there's indeed smooth sailing ahead!

I do know a woman who IS psychic. She has been an amazing aid on more than a few occassions. Even when she missed meaning of what she felt it was still accurate. She was asked by my wife which of two cars we were considering was the better choice. I dissagreed with her prediction (I am a mechanic) so we bought the one she said she say only red flags when she thought about it. It was a great car except when she borrowed it a couple times three years later. It stranded her both times and needed extensive repairs. Not anything she could have done to cause the failures. When I mentioned that the red flags she saw were for her not me she agreed. It is not an exact science like picking lottery numbers but more signs and feelings like red flags. The experience she has been and some things my chiropractor does called muscle testing have convinced me that there is a great deal about the physical world around us that we do not even suspect yet, like radio energy was many years ago. Just my opinion but a good psychic can share a lot with you about what you are going to face.
