Okay guys, need your help here...H only uses PC at office, but has an AOL account...this is how i got him with DDay #1, and I am feeling I need to do some sleuthing again...However, I do not have access to his PC at work, only have his AOL screen name. Is there a way to find out what password he is using if i only have his screen name? Any help would be much appreciated. Since DDay #3 I have just had that feeling that H is doing something on there b/c he knows/thinks I cant access it.

Well when he set up his AOL Instant Messenger, did he do that from work? Did he use his WORK email address?

if so, then you won't be able to unless you can figure out what his password is. Figure out what word he would use and maybe that way. If he set up his AOL IM via your home email account. Just go to PASSWORD and request it be sent to you BUT only if he set it up at home. If it was at work. He will get the email at work and know you are in it. Are you talking about AOL Instant Messenger or email?

What email service do you have at home?

Let me know if I can help.

Zoey, thanks...he set up the AOL (email, not IM) account awhile ago, so I'm not sure where it was actually set up, and we have no PC at home...i just suspect he is accessing it from his office via the net. Believe me i have tried and will keep trying to think of passwords he would use, none of them have worked so far but we shall see. i feel really sneaky, but ive just always had that feeling in the pit of my stomach that that is how H is keeping up contact w/OW and god knows who else - especially now that he is back home and can't be sneaky anymore himself!

Hi
I've had AOL for over 7 yrs...It doesn't matter which computer the account is set up on, you will still need the password. Sorry!

If it's that important to you (and I'm sure you've read all the "trust issue" arguments here at MB) then you could invest in keyboard spy software and get his password that way. Good luck!

As I stated in my internet spy post, you can sometimes acquire the password at a different e-mail address if you can answer the secret question. I don't know anything about AOL, but click on anything that says password help and see if that's an option.

I have an alternative idea for you if you have an internet cell phone --

if he hasn't already set up his screen name for AOL instant messanger, you could set it up and choose your own password.

Then you can log on to your phone, and check all e-mails.

i have a guestion.do you have access to his work pc.if not then it would'nt matter if you had his password.if you sign on from a diferent pc as a guest you wont have access to any old mail just whats unopened.it would be hit and miss to actually see any mail from ow.
now if you have access to his work pc and have some time alone with it...well,i can help there.first thing to try is to start aol.dont sign on just make sure that its his name in the sign on box.try to look at his file cabinet.sometimes poeple dont realize to lock it.to access it just go under the file options in the upper left cornerthat will list all mail opened in the last few days.also check the history trail and cookies and temp inernet files in windows in windows.if you cant find anything there then you will have to view the aol cache.its in the aol/organize folder.it list all screen names in the account, mail, buddies in list,my favorites, basically everything in aol.you will need word pad to open it.and there may be several files to read.and they may be quite long so you need lots of time.
this is very important.after viewing the files you will need to clear the documents on the start menue.if you dont he will see everything you read.and dont forget to make sure you empty anythihng you put into the recycle bin.i caught my wife on that once.she made every effort to cover her tracts.deleted everything, and forgot to empty the trash....oophs!

MPELE, if you have an aol screen name on your computer at home, you can go in and set yourself as a master screen name.

Master Screen Name status can be placed on up to 2 additional existing or newly created screen names besides the primary screen name. In order to assign master screen name status, a screen name must first be designated with an 18+ rating through Parental Controls.

To Assign an Additional Master Screen Name Status:
1. Sign on to AOL using the primary screen name (the first screen name created when you joined AOL), and go to Keyword: Parental Controls.
2. Click on Set Parental Controls.
3. Select the screen name from the list of names on your account that you'd like to make an additional master screen name.
4. Click Additional Master.
5. Click in the box next to Designate this screen names as a master screen name.
6. Click Save
Once you assign yourself a master, you can set the password to be automatic sign on. Or you should be able to, if he has a different password you dont know. with master screen name, you can go change it to a password you know. Of course, he'll find out, but you can set it to automatic sign on as well so password doesn't have to be typed in. Mine changed his password, so I assigned myself master statis, changed it to a word I knew and told him he better leave it there. LOL Anyhow, I'm not sure, but once you get a master, you may be able to contact aol by email and ask for password you forgot? they will email it I think. Does anyone else here have any ideas? Oh yes, if you ever get in and find anything, double copy it and print it out. mine destroyed what I had printed out so I wish I'd made a double copy and hid one. but I had a friend store it for me too so it's still available should I need it! Good luck. LouLou P.S. Only problem here is you have to get into his side to make master. Sigh.

grrrrr,

people who have nothing to hide, hide nothing...

If it were me, id ask him for it, if he refused id say that people who have nothing to hide, hide nothing and let him know that you operate based on the information you have, and that by saying no you have to believe he is hiding something and that you assume its continued contact with the OW and that you will act accordingly.

no specific accusation no love buster just calm conversation.

Plan A, 4 Rules then Plan B.

remember Plan A is not forever

Call and get help, It would have saved me lots of trouble and angst.
