Hello,

WH is in a fast spinning downward spiral due to addictions. I am taking steps to protect me & the kids. We have a coin collection and sportsmemorabilia that could be worth some bucks from what I understand. I need the money to pay household expenses & WH is trying to get these for who knows what

I don't know the first thing about the collections - where would I get information on how to value and price these for sale? I was thinking about selling them on ebay? Any other suggestions?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. This board is a great source of information due to the varied backgrounds here!

D.

Hello D,

I have been selling on E-Bay for about three years now, and I've had some pretty good luck. I sell mostly collectibles, but some other odd-ball stuff too.

When I first started, I really knew diddley about different antique items and pieces. But I knew something old when I saw it, and looked for marks on the piece to help me identify it. Then, I would log on to E-Bay and run a search in completed items, either using the identifying mark, or a description. Most of the time, I would find the same item I had, or a similar one, and I would have a starting point from which to price it. I've bought items at yard sales for as little as $1; the same items I've sold on E-Bay for $50 to $100. It happens! I've even sold a couple of pieces of sports memorabilia (Emmit Smith and Troy Aikman items.) I did pretty well with them too.

All you have to do to register is pick a user name. You also have to give a credit-card number (or you did when I registered.) It's trial and error when you first start, but it's pretty easy to catch on. I have really had good experience on E-Bay.

Hope this helps,
my move

Thanks for the responses.

mymove There is a lot of "stuff" that I can sell on ebay even besides the collectibles. I feel uncomfortable cuz I've never done it, but I just need to do it.

nikko Could you email me at the address on my sig line? Maybe I could send you the inventory list that I have (even tho it's not complete) to see what your husband thinks I should do? That would be a God send.

Thanks so much for the responses!
D.
