I recently joined the MB board and I have become so hooked that I mainly view the board while I am at work but the other day I did log in and post a new topic.

I work with a very nozy computer hacker and I have been really nervous that he might be able to retrieve personal information from my hard drive.
I saw an article last week in the news about old computers harboring all kinds of personal info that can be retrieved by the new owner.

How can I ensure that I erase everything off my hard drive that I do over the internet (Other than not going to those sites!!!). I normally go to internet tools and delete all cookies, files, and history. Is this enough?

Please help!!! I would hate to know that he could get this information that is so personal to me. Maybe I was a little to careless.

well i wouldn't want to give to much details on this issue here.there could be a cheating spouce reading this and we'd tell them how to cover their tracts.not to smart, hope you understand that.i will say this much.just deleting the items you mentioned is't enough.
sometimes companies install monitoring software to tract what there employees are up to.so my advise is too stop doing this at work.after all you are suposed to be working ..right...lol.the company my wife works for monitors all computer and phone line activity.

First...Your at work computer belongs to the company...deleting does NOT keep the information from remaining on the hard drive, it's just not as visable. It's still there! Even if you delete everything, unless those files are overwritten and compressed...it's still there.

Therefore, you boss/co-workers, etc can if they are computer savy find the sites you've been on and possibly a whole lot more. I would never advise anyone to post from any computer which isn't their own.

The company has the RIGHT to see what you are doing on company time. This is becoming a very real concern in many companies and they are checking up on their employees to see how they are using company equipement, time and people are losing their jobs over this. Beware!
