Quick update on thread for "overweight" wife came home from shopping the other night, with all fruits and vegs. Said time for weight change, I made up my mind to lose weight, spoke to people at aerobics and they pointed me to nutritionist. I almost feel off the chair. kept my mouth shut and said to myself "yes".
The advice from this board helped me out bigtime. Keep your mouth shut, show love, and support and you may be rewarded. This is the first step toward weight loss I've heard from her for about 3 years now. The natural reaction to demand, tripped me up big time almost costing me my wife to OM.
She seems happier with me now than in years and even starts tickling and joking with me again.
Just wanted to write to thank you ladies for your advice and especially "lady Lou" for the "do you want to be around for your kids" advice I passed on that i think clicked in her head. That with the fact a close elder friend was recently diagnosed with intestinal cancer, which she was told is usually a diet related illness, added to my wifes reevaluation of her weight.
Lets hope she can do it long term. Will post to let you know what happens and may god bless all of you and lead you to closure in your relationship problems.

Wokeup. Hallelujah! Your post is wonderful news. I'm happy for you. Hang in there and be supportive. Maybe you can even join her in her new eating habits. Letting her teach you all the new things she's learning. It's fun to have a companion doing the same thing with you, sharing the new meals and health info. I recommend this because I have a family that sabotages me. LOL Not really, but it does make it hard to diet when they want all the bad stuff and I have to cook that too! If she starts to do an exercise, such as walking or whatever, ask her if you can join in! Just remember, let her feel she's teaching you the new way to live! don't say I knew that or I told you so! LOL Just a woman's point of view. I'm happy she's taking responsibility for this so she can stay around for the trip up the mountain with you! And see your precious children grow up and all the events in their lives. God bless, LouLou

This is wonderful. With each new meal she makes, you can be honest. And state if the meal needs more seasoning. Enjoy the meals, and really look at it with watering eyes, and say, this looks really good. Just look at all the vitamins, and nutritional value here. I would ask her what the nutritionist said, and ask if you could read the material she was given.
You could maybe look up some recipes and say, here is one that may fit with what your nutritionist said.
After eating the meal, say, I am full but I don't have that bloated, gassy feeling. Just a nice full, healthy feeling. This was a great dinner, and I love you for including me in this healthy meal. I am excited to see the new menu, and if I can help in anyway, I will be willing to.
If you want to, you could later on suggest a nice juicer, or food processor if you don't have one. But cutting food with your own hands, is part of the art of a dinner home cooked. Food processor just helps with time. I am looking into a juicer, wanting to feed my kids fresh juice. My massomassologist has a Champion, commercial brand. It is 1/3 horse power, and the pulp is extracted. I found it on the internet, and I am going to order it per SNL giving me the okay. He will enjoy the juice and the flavor. Especially when all the fresh fruits and vegetables come in this summer.
Be proud of her, she has made a big step in the right direction. Good for you and her.
