We're going to a wedding in April. What weather can we expect early April? Is there some local attraction we should make sure to see? I booked a room at a really sweet-looking B&B that looks romantic.

I work in Albany, NY, which is right next to Schenectady. The weather in early April is UNPREDICTABLE! It can be really warm, mid-70's, or we can get a spring snowstorm. A "normal" day would be 50's and cloudy. I would check the NWS website a few days before you go to see what's happening.
Albany is the capital of NYS, and the Empire State Plaza is very nice. There is a museum, a large concourse w/ reflecting pool, and The Egg, a unique concert center. Downtown Albany, toward the Hudson River, is also blessed with beautiful old buildings, ornate and still in use. The entire area was originally settled by the Dutch, and many Dutch influences still exist such as street names and architecture.
I'm less familiar with Schenectady, but Proctor's Theater is there, a beautiful old theater, restored, putting on Broadway plays and many other concerts. Another concert hall worth checking out is the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, across the Hudson from Albany in Troy. It has AWESOME acoustics. Both venues have websites if you'd like to check it out.
About 1/2 hour north of Schenectady is the old spa town of Saratoga, a great place for food and drinks, historic buildings, a great town to stroll through. Too bad you won't be here during racing season!
How long are you planning on staying around, and what are you interested in, maybe I can think of something else. I have to say that April in upstate NY is not the best time to be visiting, but I'm sure we can offer you something.
Have a great trip!

Hey you guys that's enough Troy-bashing! Armpit my *ss!! Where are you all from, sunny Californ-I-A or something?? Yeah, we've got 4-ft banks of dirty black snow we can't see around from our car windows right now, but it builds character. Just for that, Pepper's going to find himself going the wrong way down one of Troy's infamous 1-way-streets! Now if you promise to be nice, I'll send you a map. Jeez, some people....

lablady hit reply and then ... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" /> .... scroll down past the little box where you are going to type in your response .... look to the left, you'll see funny faces (instant graemlins)click on the face you want ... and it will appear in the message! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />
