Big stuff. My dad was just diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.
I'm driving to see them this afternoon after my last class today (they live 3 hours away). Thought I was going to be o.k. with this, but today is going to be very hard. Hope I don't embarrass my students too much.
Oldest son was very upset, middle son o.k., daughter (youngest) doesn't know yet. Hopefully, they'll all get to see him a few times while he's still healthy.
Please add us to your, already long, prayer lists.

Jeffers I feel your pain. My mother has been battling small cell lung cancer for several years. We have been very lucky since they caught it early. She has been doing very well the past two years and things look good but cancer is a vicious disease that can turn on its victims on a moment notice.

Thank you, MelodyLane and stunned-dad.
He has the non small cell version, though at stage IV I'm not sure the treatment options differ.
What I'm feeling now is sorrow, not pain (but, I know what you meant stunned-dad). I'm not afraid of being sad- there's an intense cleanliness to it, if that makes sense. What I've learned here is going to help me alot.
Optimism, hope and just plain cheerfulness run deep in my family. I'm sure we'll be o.k. I'm just overwhelmed by the "so much to say, so little time" aspect.
Thanks,
Jeffers

Cali,
Thank's for your prayers.
Yeah, doctors make me nervous too. I usually get worried before I see them, imagining all the things that could be wrong with me. I hope the Dr's message turns out to be nothing important - hmmm... did you pay your bill?
Well, gotta hit the road - won't check back in here until Saturday or Sunday.
Take care,
Jeffers
