Horse with no name -
By America
Some say it was about finding yourself.
Some say it was about Heroin addiction.

Hard to know........unless you wrote the song.

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name.
It felt good to get out of the rain.
In the desert, you can't remember your name..
and there ain't no one to give you no pain...

(Or words to that effect)...

Going a little further back in time, do any of you know what the story was in the song 'Timothy'? I know and it's quite a shocker.

Timothy - by Elton "feather me up baby" John

This one? never released? kinda creepy? give.

Timothy
Why are you following me
Why don't you take a few chances
while you got time on your side

Timothy
How can I make you see
Somebody's got all the answers
but it sure ain't me

You know that love's a game
And I played it once or twice
Oh you're asking for advice
That I can't give you

'Cause it just don't feel the same
If you haven't paid the price
It's something that you're just gonna
Have to live through

Timothy
Why are you following me

Timothy
I'm not the person to tell you
What you should do with your life

Timothy
The joke's on me
You got yourself more to handle
Than I will ever be

You know that love's a game
You can guarantee to win
Love has always been a game of learning

'Cause it just don't feel the same
When you're outside looking in
And it's still the same old question keeps returning

Timothy
Why are you following me

Well you know that love's a game
You play the best you can
It's hard to understand
Though we keep trying

'Cause it just don't feel the same
When you lose the master plan
I sometimes have to laugh
To keep from crying

Ok, forget that last one... creepy as it may have sounded, stalker is way less scary than being eaten.

Timothy
The Buoys
(Rupert Holmes)

Trapped in a mine that had caved in
And everyone knows the only ones left
Were Joe and me and Tim
When they broke through to pull us free
The only ones left to tell the tale
Were Joe and me

Timothy, Timothy, where on earth did you go?
Timothy, Timothy, God why don't I know?

Hungry as hell no food to eat
And Joe said that he would sell his soul
For just a piece of meat
Water enough to drink for two
And Joe said to me, "I'll have a swig
And then there's some for you."

Timothy, Timothy, Joe was looking at you
Timothy, Timothy, God what did we do?

I must have blacked out just around then
'Cause the very next thing that I could see
Was the light of the day again
My stomach was full as it could be
And nobody ever got around
To finding Timothy
Timothy...

Oh, and how about this... Timothy was written by Rupert Holmes...

Yes, THAT Rupert Holmes who wrote that insufferable song "Escape" (The Pina Colada Song)

You know: "If you like pina coladas...gettin' caught in the rain...

Who are these people?? I know Elton John, but that's it.

Could it be that I wasn't even born in 1976?

How about this one?

I saw the Eagles reunion concert a few years back and I still can't stop laughing at the name of their tour: 'The Hell Freezes Over' tour.

FI - When they broke up previously, it was pretty ugly between all of them.

Later, when asked about a possible reunion, Don Henly said, "We'll get back together when hell freezez over" hence the name of that tour.

Ooh,ooh, ooh, I think I kinda know some of the answer to this -The song is American Pie of course. The reference is to rock legends who died --right? I think Buddy Holly is one of them - not sure which one...

HELP! Anyone know this?
Just heard this tidbit of info a couple of weeks ago listening to my fave CBC radio but have of course forgotten.
