The Pittman Formula:

12% remaining will remarry
75% secondary failure

27422 current Mbers

Have fun with it maybe we will learn something. To show your math use the ubbcode [_code_] [_/code_] without the _

Do you have any stats about police officers.

Is the rate higher?

Which means that 411 of affairees will remain with their affair partners ... a whopping 1.5 percent of the total.

I believe the first statistic, 50% of 1st time marriages end in divorce, is actually 50% of ALL marriages end in divorce (which would include 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Elizabeth Taylor, etc. marriages too).

So that means the odds here will be a little better. Since one person may be responsible for more than one divorce statistic.

But then all memebers are not married...maybe eventually, but not now, and can't be counted in the total.

Which puts us back to about where we were.

Actually, the divorce rate is higher for remarriages. The rate rises to something like 60% or higher for 2nd marriages.

Hey what about us artsy types that can do math when forced to (ohhh like say at tax time) but who don't enjoy it?? And what about if us artsy types have a sibling with a PhD in math, or a spouse who is an engineer....can we play by proxy??

Here's a link I have bookmarked to info on divorce stats. And yes... all my bookmarks are equally frivolous and uplifting

There information in H2Us original post was incomplete. It should have read:

Out of 100 couples, (Pittman?s sample in his book private lies)
He said 50% of affairs couples divorced.
But, only 12% (12) actually married OP.
And then 75% of those failed (12*.75)= 9
Thus only 3 married betrayers are left

In my books that is the rate of success in the A, whether they marry or not..... can't measure happiness with a calculator.

As they say in an oldy but goody song..... Can't buy me love, 'uv !
