I was just wondering if I am stuck in a Peter Pan Syndrome or fighting with a midlife crisis.

Cripes, the kids were playing a CD on Chels' boom box [is that still the correct term today?] it sounded terrible at full volume. So I popped it in the "real" tune center. [MINE] It's pretty cool, I can rattle the windows. 11 y/o's and I like the same tunes, I don't get it.

My Mom was here at the time and wanted to go out the back door because it was too loud. What? too loud.

I'm 25, and I listen to everything... well, almost everything.

Love most genres of music... for different things.

When I'm blue, nothing can mellow me out/smooth me over the rough spots like Norah Jones or Russell Watson.

When I'm sleepy, it's all about classical music.

When I'm upset, it's all about hard rock/heavy metal (though I refuse to see death metal as music).

When I'm happy, I love 80's rock, pop rock and hip tunes.

When I'm "in the mood" I like anything with a gooood, sensual beat.

43 as well--last concert--Linkin Park--with H in reserved seating, our teenage daughters in the mosh pit/general seating. Loved it. One singer is melodic and/or screamer, other rapper. Good sounds. Pre-band Mudveyn, ok, a little horrified and they sounded horrible even according to the 18 yr old, whose boyfriend is a big fan and has listened to CDs.

I like some of the "angry guys" as I call them--Godsmack comes to mind. Left to my own devices I like Hootie & the Blowfish, Barenaked Ladies (oh, you know it's a band <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> ), celtic, especially Lorena McKennit, then, there's Creed ("Arms Wide Open" <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> sang it to my H on our first anniversary in recovery--#17 of our marriage ), Collective Soul.

I remember the 80's and love Queen, Rod Stewart "Maggie May" know that one, didn't understand the "sun in your face really shows your age" until the last few years, Meatloaf "bat out of hell" sends me back. Happily. Sang along with George Thorougood & the destroyers on the way home from work. "I drink alone... my good friend Bud Wiser...Johnny Walker" & "bad to the bone". Such a bad boy.

I'm a tad younger than you (35), but my husband and I are still 80s kids, and our kids just love the music we listen to.

It sounds to me like you've learned how to enjoy your life. You aren't using money needed to support your family on your car - so whats wrong with it? Personally, I think that anyone who thinks something is wrong with you is the one with the problem.

Nothing wrong with loud music and fast cars at 43 - I expect that when I am 43 my H and I will have a auto rallies under our belts (just waiting for the kids to get a bit older...)

I love the 80's tunes yet. Brings back all of the fun teenage memories. Whats cool is that alot of the kids love the stuff so we don't look so old. I think the hairband tunes will last forever.

No you aren't the only 1 stuck in the 80's, but since i have been seperated I do listen to alot of the music they have out now. My husband didn't really like the new music so I really didn't listen to it much, but now I do. I even surprise my kids. It's funny because I graduated in 1983 so our 20th reunion is coming up and I suggested we all sit in chairs to dance since we dance so well in the car.

G took Chelsea shopping the other night and left Ian here with me. Well, we did a male bonding gig, installed the under cabinet coffee maker together and started watching Running Scared.

G got home and wasn't real happy. I kinda forgot it was rated R, [the movie, not the coffee maker] ooooppppssss. My son [T2] and I watched the first tape I had so many times we wore it out. Anyway they have cool tunes in the movies and Chels was dancing away. Fortunately I have the sound track so it looks like we will be dancing the day away today. No Bob Vila plans as of yet. I'll have to wait till G wakes up.
