Has anyone had to deal with MAJOR IRS issues? We had our own business, that he ran (where OW worked) and thru having a small business and being taxed out the wazoo we got behind in a major way. He met with them today. Last fall when we were going to sell the house it was $30,000.00 (he just fiddled with it, but did contact a lawyer). We had our house al the way to closing and found out it doubled to $70,000.00 he contacted the lawyer he had contacted lawyer to find out what to do, didn't like answer and it took too long and we lost the sale. He went away to Calif to work and stated he was working on it (found out did nothing) and today is now up to $94,000.00. I am scared...so scared. I filed for divorce yesterday. I don't care about losing the house I just want out. any advise Please??

toolong, go find a good tax attorney quick! Often they can negotiate a settlement and a payment plan. Even you can negotiate a payment plan. As long as you pay them something, they won't start taking things. But if you blow them off, its big trouble.

Some advice from someone in the business. There are various things that you can do. Since I don't know all of the particulars, it would be difficult to customize the advice. Look into two things ... innocent spouse laws and offers in compromise

Thanks for your replys. We are looking into compromise. He wants to sell the house and keep his business. I want to sell both if possible. That would get me and my parents off the business loan and pay the IRS off. I am looking at living with my parents now. And he is driving me insane. He only sees that he is losing his business. I am losing the business, husband, house and possibly pets. We had a blow up today. I will serve him his papers today and the waiver. We are trying to look at all angles. I realize he is trying to come out the best in the situation but at the expense of me and our children. I tried to tell him I was not happy with suggesting keeping the business and he got mad and the bomds flew from there.
