T, Gib,
If I was Justin in that case I would be losing my A$$. Of course if I were Lefty, I wouldn't have one left. Had to do some work before the end of the matches but it doesn't look good for the homeboys. However, I just love watching match play especially these formats. You can see the pressure on them. I must say that course looks like a monster. When they start talking about 498 par 4's and the guy has a mid iron for a second shot I just shake my head.
Gibby, what do those guys use for equipment??? I've been known to hit the ball a fair ways but some of the distances are just amazing, even from my youth when I could actually play the game and hit the duece 250. Oh! how I wish I could still do that.
T have you ever heard Lee Trevino's method for avoiding being hit by lightening on a golf course. He claims you "hold a 1 iron over your head, not even God can hit a 1 iron."
When I left the matches were even, but it didn't look too good. But, you know it is fun to watch especially when you have a large number. Someone is always going to be hot and just smoke another guy, but over the course of the whole thing, it will even out.
Got to get back to work.

Well JL you are a wussy butt.
Down hill with spring hard pan and a strong wind at my back my personal best is a smidge inside the 100 yard mark on a 406 yard par four.
The following spring same hole same conditions just barely outside the 100 yard mark.
Unfortunately haven't golfed much this last year. Have two new drivers from ebay (Cobra SZ 400 and Cobra SZ 440) sitting in the garage begging for some attention.
Twyla I am pulling for ABT.
A-nybody B-ut T-iger!
It gets old watching him win all the time...somebody throw Phil Mickleson a first place bone for a change.

Viagra laced golf balls!!! Um!
I have been thinking of getting my balls laced with viagra, but always thought you needed a Doc's prescription for that. Oh well live and learn.
Got the matched shafts, but I doubt the kick point is tuned to my angle of attack. Plus, it would help to be 30 something instead of close to 60 something, but still, the equipment has really changed the game, because Jack didn't hit this far one his best days. Heck, I hit it further than Jack does now.
It is pretty impressive to see how well and accurately these guys hit it. The other thing that has changed in recent years is the pin placements. Have you noticed that they are often less than six paces from the edges of the greens?
Unfortunately, a lot of our local courses think this is neat and set up the courses I play that way. Problem is that the fairways are not cut as close and I am not hitting a 9 iron from 160 or an 8 iron from 180 like they seem to be doing. It sort of takes the fun out of the game when the courses are set up for "championships" like the big boys but the big boys are not playing, just us guys.
It is fun to watch the matches though. I suppose when I get home I will find out who finally won.
So T who were you favoring?

Oh, I pulled for the homeboys, but individually I really love watching Ernie. Can't believe it ended in a tie!
Saw an interesting interview with Gary Player last week on one of those "Playing Lessons From the Pro's" programs on The Golf Channel and he was talking about golf course design, I was happy to hear him say that placemet of the woman's tees should allow her game to compliment the mans. Ie, if if takes a driver and a 5 for a man to reach the green, the red tees should be placed to allow the same for the women.
Saw another interesting interview and unfortunately I can't remember the man's name...he's in his late 60's, still playing..Casper I think. Anyway he shot some stuff with old clubs and then the new stuff. Really funny and great to see where it all began and how much enjoyment will still be available when we're JL's age.
JL, one of my favorite golf partners uses a 1 iron and hits the ball a country mile. However his game sort of sucks from 150 in, so I can usually catch him around the greens.
Gibby...LOL
quote:
Precision weighted heads, matching shafts with kick points specifically designed for the players angle of attack and swing speed, and most importantly....viagra laced golf balls!

Well, this gets back to the equiptment improvements..and also, look how the players are starting to take care of themselves.
SDFR, don't be talking about my future son in law that way! (hey, a Mom can dream!). But this supposed "slump" of his has made watching more fun. Actually I've enjoyed seeing him change stuff game by game.
