I have been giving some thought to my WW's rational for her affair. You see, she is a very commited Christian and this affair is totally out of character for her. Several people who now know about the affair have expressed that exact sentiment to me.
In order to justify the A, she and the OM have concocted a very warped theology to justify both the A and divorcing their spouses. Thanks to this strange theology, they are no longer breaking their vows and the sacred covenant of marriage, but are actually doing god's will! As Dr. H has said, people will change their beliefs and views to accomodate the affair. They have done just that.
My theory is that deep down inside they know that they have violated God's law, broken the covenant they have with God and their spouse, and, perhaps worst of all, used God to justify their sin. That is why they have had to invent this strange theology and also, why WW never wanted to talk with our pastor. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />
All of the guilt and its consequences is heaped up on them waiting to come crashing down. Only this warped theology keeps it in perfect balance, kind of like an upside down pyrmaid. An upsidedown pyramid is inherently unstable and anything that disrupts the perfect balance will send it crashing to the ground.
Once a gust of truth unbalances the pyramid, no matter how slightly, the whole thing will come crashing down on them.
