I am friends with a married couple. I met them through work. I am no longer working with them. I am actually closer friends with the guy though.

His wife is in the hospital right now. She has been having some health problems. He has been calling me the last couple of days because he needs someone to talk.

He admitted that he likes me and would like if something would happen between us. I told him that I wouldn't want to because I wouldn't want to ruin the friendship and because not only is he married but I also consider his wife a friend.

He said he understands that. Except all through the rest of our conversation he kept bringing things up. And I felt uncomfortable with the tone of the conversation.

Exspecially since he was also talking about other girls he liked from work.

Now I am feeling incredibly guilty. I know that if I was his wife I wouldn't have liked how the conversation was going. I don't want to ruin a marriage just from talking to him.

He said that I could call him back later to talk. Now I am not so sure. Should I just stop talking to him?

Like I said I do care for him as a friend. I have known him for awhile now. I don't want to send any mixed signals.

I had wanted to got out with him and his wife to lunch or something to that affect. Now I don't know if either one of us would be comfortable in doing that.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

Tally,

Is this the kind of guy you want for a friend? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Although you want a friendship, the male friend is proving himself not to be one. He seems to be looking for another notch in his belt. You said no and yet he persisted on bringing things up. Show his W how good of a friend you are. Let her know of his advances and then walk away.

He is the one at fault here, not you.

God Bless

Hi tallyalice,

I might suggest that you hold off on telling your female friend of her husbands advances unitl she is relatively recovered. She doesn't need to deal with one trauma like that after having health issues.I guess it depends on what the woman is going through and if she is stable enough to accept what you will/may tell her.

Also, like boobyprize said, you probably already know that what this man was doing was wrong, wrong, wrong! So I would suggest that you not see him anymore at all.Particularly because if you are around, this man may keep on trying to get to you and therefore he will not be working on his marriage. If I were you,I would tell him that he is to stop all contact with you and that he should tell his wife that their marriage is in trouble, obviously from his wandering eyes.

Please consider telling your woman friend what happened if the husband won't because they have the best chance at recovery before anything more serious takes place so don't think you are going to ruin a marriage, you just might actually save it from what we are all dealing with here.

Remember, you can no longer SAFELY have ANY type of friendship with this man.He has crossed the line into an inappropriate field with you and I seriously doubt either one of you could "just" be friends from here on in.Dr.Harley says that if someone you meet or know fills any EN's in any way,RUN, don't walk away!

O
