Did anyone else watch this on NBC? I did, and was very intrigued by it all. Sounds like Charles was in a long time EA then PA with Camilla Parker Bowles, and then after years of putting up with Charles relationship with Camilla (she said there were 3 people in her marriage), Diana had an affair with her riding instructor, then they separated and divorced. Not even royalty is immune to adultery.

I found it quite interesting that Diana confronted Camilla (the OW!) one night at a party and told her that she wanted her husband back, and Camilla's response was something like, "You have 2 beautiful children and the nation loves you, what more do you want?" to which Diana said, "My husband."

I have a profound new sense of empathy for Diana I must say, considering my H had a female "best friend" for years before I cheated on him.

Did her story strike a chord with anyone else?

Now that I'm in my 30's, and realizing that Di was only 36 when she died... that is what really struck a chord with me.

I should have known better than to stay up and watch last night's show (the full 2 hours is repeating on nbc on Saturday btw).

I had gotten up early in the a.m. to watch the funeral live, back in '97. I had Andrew with me (my now deceased son). I even taped the funeral, in acknowledgement of what a profound time in history that was, and I recall thinking how it would be nice to one day tell Andrew that he watched it live too.

And then I saw the flowers on the casket with a card attached. The card read, "Mummy". <img border="0" alt="[Teary]" title="" src="graemlins/teary.gif" />

All I could think about was how poor Diana could never hug her little boys again!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />

And now... seeing that again last night... all it reminded me of was how I could never hug my Andrew again. <img border="0" alt="[Teary]" title="" src="graemlins/teary.gif" />

I was a pitiful scene late last night, to say the least. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

As far as the adultery issue goes... well... I guess I'm "over" most of that in my life now... so it doesn't affect me the same as it may some. However, I can now watch shows like that of last night's special and think, "Harley is right... NO ONE is excluded from the pain of adultery".

Topie, thanks for sharing with me how that show touched you so deeply. You are a very sensitive and loving mother, whose boys are so fortunate to have you!

Like you say, watching that program reminded me as well that NO ONE is excluded from the pain of adultery. In fact, just this weekend, I found out that 2 more of my friends suffered or are currently suffering from the heartache of cheating boyfriends (different than in a marriage, but certainly heartbreaking nonetheless).
