I have lurked here for a couple of months now and have seen some references to the mother ship replacing our spouses with aliens. I am definately a believer!....My question is...is this where the legal term alienation of affection comes in?

hehehe, I don't know that I have ever seen that parallel, but I see your point! That phrase, I believe, was invented by our very own WAT!

Sometimes the truths of life hurt so much you just have to start looking for humor...or making it up.

How funny...I never even saw it mentioned here before...then one day I created the analogy for MYSELF to deal with my turmoil. I convinced myself that my WH was abducted by an alien and he was buried deep inside this aliens body...
And here I thought I was original <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> and it was WAT's doing. Maybe WAT was talking to me somehow <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Back from spring break fishing and catching up a little when I see this thread.
Whether I originated it or not, the "alien abduction" theory was the only fitting explanation I could come up with to explain my WS's behavior - it was that bizarre. No earthly explanation could do. Subsequently, when I discovered MB and shared this metaphor, it certainly stuck - owing more to the other worldly spookiness of the similarities of affairee behaviors and their zaniness than to my feeble attempt to describe them.
As for the "alienation of affection" term, some of us noted the coincidence with our adopted "theory" right away. But maybe it's not a coincidence afterall. Could be the lawyers already knew of the Mothership LONG before we did - perhaps due to their own penchant for bizarreness?

I wonder...is it possible that they are actually piloting the mothership? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />
