HoFS,
I know it create confusion but since I have started I have to explain it.
MB has "protected forum", nothing new, look at Pregnancy/OC. It is protected forum not "protected thread".
To join "protected forum" you have to follow certain rule and get the moderator to grant access for you.
To create "protected thread", you need to be able to control who could read/write to it.
The later is not available to users.
MB uses UBB.classic SYMC uses UBB.xx
both by InfoPop.

Yes, I understand what you are saying about the control an individual member could have over viewing of posts. However, I think the private types of forums, whether here or SYMC can offer the same type of protection, if you will, when board moderators and administrators are actively involved in day-to-day operation. In fact, I'd rather see board administrators/mods in charge of this sort of thing rather than individual members.

HoFS,
<img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> I work in software field and I am a perfectionist <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> . I don't go for a half solution where I know it could be done.
SYMC needs lees help then MB in term of going dark, we have soo much BS that is in the fog here. Trying to save M at all cost ! and fails to negotiate to end A when appropriate. I rather see it here.

personally, since this thread was started on my behalf..thank you rh <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> I am much more comfortable here at MB. Although brand new, I am learning the concepts and have many supporters here and I am deadly afraid of moving to another board in which case i would lose my support team. That is like telling an alcoholic to change AA meeting locations or switch sponsers.
This board is my saviour and I appreciate any and all efforts to have this private forum, but if I must go dark or move to another board I wont do it. I cant lose my support I get on this board. It is all too valuable to me and my recovery.
Thank you rh! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

mom - have you thought about posting on several boards? I post on 3. But this is the main one. You will see lots of the same people on other boards. Hang in there, and try to relax.

You will get tons of support on both. I have been looking for you over there. You can still post here and get support, but we can talk more privately over there.
And mom, try to relax, your WH will be back. It is just going to be uncomfortable in the meantime.

Believer, Can you say what board it is where you can post privately? I think I may be headed to Plan B with legal separation. Whether the A is over or not, my H appears uninterested in meeting my ENs. Cherished

I am already identify the web hosting company I need to get familiar w/ phpBB2 (I had it installed on my computer already) I need to learn PHP: 1. modify the login script so that it would be transparent. 2. mostlikly I have to enchance it to do thread locking level
It is my summer project.
For now you have to use you own private support system.
