We should start the ball rolling to establish "Homewrecker's Day."

Of course, this would be no joyous holiday.

It would be the opposite of Mother's Day/Father's Day and its purpose would be to recognize the harm done to families by unrecovered adultery. Given the current interest in the "sanctity of marriage" the time might be right.

Hallmark could probably come up with some cards, huh?

Seriously, I think it would be a great idea if there were a public education, anti-adultery program similar to the anti-substance abuse educational campaigns. There wouldn't exactly be a shortage of kids from celebrity divorces to testify about how divorce has affected their lives negatively.

Picture the adulterers cuddled up together on the sofa to watch a little tv: Then an ad comes on showing the sort of things the fog-addled adulterers say and do, with a warning that this is the sort of insanity and insensitivity that adultery leads to. They could also show statistics of the harmful effects of adultery. And 'warning' type ads about the lies a WH will tell an OW, with the message: "come on - you don't really believe him do you?". There could be kids telling how an adulterous parent AND the OP have hurt them.

There really should be more done to try to stop this adultery/divorce epidemic. Why should individual BS's be left to fight this problem on their own? Something needs to be done to PUBLICLY counter the lie that kids aren't that affected by it.

Interestingly enough, SYMC is working on doing something very much like this, though cast in a positive light: Marriage Fidelity Day. They're currently planning on trying to get a proclamation in WI (SYMC's home state) for this year, and go on to ten or so additional states next year. If you're interested working on the project, I think they're looking for volunteers to help work on the documents and lobbying efforts.
