My W wrote a check to the US Dept + State and I have no idea what it's for. I'm really nervious and feel terrible. Anyone have any ideas what this might be for? Is this to get DV rolling? Help

Get online, on your county's website, and see if you can find some info for divorce there. If so, see who you have to make the check out to to file for DV. Don't they usually require cashiers checks for that kind of stuff?

Could it be to renew your car tags?

Maybe she made a mistake on her taxes and had to pony up a bit more...

US Dept + State ???

Did you type that right?

That doesn't make sense.

In the US marriages/divorces are all state and local issues. No federal involvement.

How much was the check for?

Would she have reason to apply for a passport?

The check was for $115.00, I'm not sure what it's for. She doesn't have a passport. Oh don't tell me another romantic get away for her and him great.

Is OM an alien (we know he is an alien, but is he an alien, not US born)? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Passport makes a lot of sense.

Are you talking about the US State Department, Tinman? Doesn't make sense to me...

Please explain in more detail...

Divorces are filed in city/county court so a check would be made out to them.

The U.S. Dept of Sate handles passports ($85).
Maybe she's planning on a vaction? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Okay! Maybe it is for a vehicle decal or renewal or taxes? When do her plates expire?

Try to calm down and let's brainstorm what it could be for... Try not to worry too much.

So what, Tinman?

Now you know something.

Let them go off and discover each other's true worth.

using your words TM, get a grip, maybe you could take your own vacation? i was seriously considering a trip to belize by myself, i would still do it if i had the money. don't give your W and the OM power of you, if you still want the M, then take a deep breath and just consider this a bump in the road which is what you are on in this race. don't have any ideas about the check but stay the course, prayers to you.

Go have your fun and when reality sets in I'll be here. Thanks for the help all I appreciate it you guys are great and if anyone tells you any different I'll kick thier butts.

If it is a vacation, Tinman, let them go. It's all fantasyland. Vacation is always great, but life is not a vacation.

I wish I could say something to you to make you feel better. I've posted and read here for a while now and I really think that you are a great guy. Too bad your W cannot see that (or maybe not yet). Right now, please just take care of yourself. I KNOW that you will be happy again, no matter what happens.

So keep your chin up. It will all work out in the end. It always done. This is something that I tell myself every day, several times. Don't you worry, okay? You have us here to talk to. We will help you, no matter what turn your life will take and believe me, it will always fall back on track.

Tinman,

This is the right attitude. Just as I mentioned in my previous email to you. It is very hard to just step back and let her do all those things with OM. I can only imagine how painful this must be for you.

Is there any way that YOU could take a vacation? I think you really deserve one and it would help you take your mind off and maybe meet some new people? What are the things that YOU like to do?

While I understand that you want your M to work out and you want your wife to come back, I hate to see you just sitting at home. You seem like such a nice person and it's a shame that you don't get out and meet some new friends. Can you go on a vacation by yourself or is this hard for you to do?

I've been on several vacations by myself and I've always had fun. How about Europe - Spain, Italy? I think you would have a blast.
