Another reason people change IDs is because they get banned by the moderators.

wat,

Thanks for that. Never considered that option.

Also, did not want or intend to hijack the other thread. Just had a question and wanted an answer. Thanks for showing me another way to ask, if my question is somewhat off the topic at hand. Don't want to piss others off, if I can help it. Later

Yes, one of this guy's former ID's was SNL. He got booted. I suspected this for some time and wanted to let him confirm it by his reactions to me. It worked. Poor sucker - doesn't realize he's been had.

Perhaps so - the problem is that folks here get sucked in to his schemes. Thanks to you, pepper, Pep and others, the results of his self serving poll don't return the answers he desperately wants.

Keep up the good work.

WAT,

How does a person know when someone has been banned by the mods? I've heard others reference this before but have no clue how they would know such a thing. Thanks in advance for your answer.

precious,

Since almost all of the moderators were once posters like you and I....and some do still post under their original names....many of us know them. Sometimes, the banned posters themselves show up and give long goodbyes and explanations. Sometimes the banned posters email other people and let them know they've been banned and that information makes it on to the board. There are various ways that people find out.

ah, witch hunts, gotta love em, all that blood and gore, and the hangings, a regular festive occasion.... That snl must have been a popular poster judgeing by the folks who continue to seek him out....or perhaps such posters are just revealing obsessive natures (which would explain their marital difficulties). I see wat, you have learned very little, and continue to have no idea why your marriage failed, although your behavior suggests a very good reason why...perhaps someday you will lose that anger, and self-righteous pomposity.

btw, top since you are still curious, snl was not booted or banned, he and his wife were both posting, and their difficulties seemed to be disruptive to the board at that time, so their ids were blocked.... TOS was not violated, and snl was a respected poster who because he was a ws and needed to understand what had happened to him, asked controversial questions about marriage...and infuriated certain bs, who whined alot...and rejoiced when he was "gone". His wife later changed her id and started posting, it would not surprise me if he did the same, and no reason to be concerned about it at all....but I suppose the same whiners would continue to obsess and whine about it....such is their nature. That in itself is a curious phenomena, why do people try to silence those they disagree with, instead of refuting them? (if they disagree). In any event, much more controversial things than snl ever posted appear regularly on the boards...go figure.

However, even an ID being banned for cause, would have nothing to do with said individual re-registering, and following the rules....all that is required is following TOS, who someone is or is not in real life is irrelevant to board operations...for obvious reasons. Nor would it be noteworthy if that individual objected to any effort to penetrate the new id, that is the whole point of annonymity provided to all posters. There are dozens of posters here who have posted previously with other ids, and opted to change them....they rarely reveal this for who knows what reason...nor does it make any difference. Whoever snl was or is is of no interest whatsoever except to a few harrassers. As for me, I am sufdb <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

btw, mods do not ban anyone, they only moderate posts.... and provide direction. In the rare instance someone violates TOS enuf (and the standards seem pretty liberal, judging by what goes on here oftentimes), the site administration handles such issues.

At least I'm an honest one. And sometimes this brutal honesty probably does appear to be pompous.

I'm also quite naive at times - like when I thought that suf/SNL would be honest.

Silly me.

Wow, I just learned something! To ignore pests instead of trying to reason with them. Reminds me of the fire ant lesson I learned some years ago - don't try to get rid of them with a weed whacker.

To be honest some more, I do not know all the reasons my marriage failed, but I know the main ones. If I wasn't going to ignore you, SNL, I'd ask for some stock tips since you have all the answers about me.

To the rest of the forum, I apologize for the distraction I flushed up.

Precious - star*fish provided the best answer to your question, I believe.
