i originally posted this on 'we're in plan b and doing fine' but need some advice

I have been in plan b for 7 weeks now.

my bad news. my lease expired a week ago. the landlord has made no attempt in renewing it for another year and seems to be avoiding my phone calls.

so, ok. the job market is not favorable for me here and i am seriously looking at moving back to my home state to get back into my career.

i have contacted numerous agencies on finding appropriate living space and no help. i contacted h (through intermediary) and i can't borrow my truck for the move as he hasn't fixed the brakes and now the tires need replacing and i can't afford all that. the truck isn't really worth it either.

but there is a lot more to add, and but this is most important for now. i am just feeling like that old saying of 'when it rains, it pours!

does anyone have advice for me? i am running out of ideas and resources.

I am in real estate so I can offer a little help relating to your apartment. Since your landlord has not sent you notice that you have to vacate the apartment when your lease expired you are a tenant in holdover. When you pay your rent and he cashes it, he is agreeing that you can stay for another month. He will need to send you notice at this point to get you out. He can not change the locks and remove your stuff, he would need to go through the courts to evict you. If he tries anything funny contact your local government or the police. This is not the ideal situation and you should continue to look for a new apartment but at least you know you should have at least 30 days notice to get out.
