That is so funny CW, because you sound just like someone who doesn't live in Auckland. I don't mean you sound like a hick - I mean obviously our Auckland attitude comes through loud and clear and gets up people's noses.
The rest of the country think we're brash, money making yuppies who sit around slurping tailor made coffees all day (I was going to say latte's and flat whites - do you guys have different names for your coffees or do you just call it coffee) and going out on our big yachts.
What, us???
oo oo thought of a funny coffee story. When we were in Italy we learnt very fast that if you ask for a coffee you get a tiny little, very strong expresso. You have to go through the whole "type of coffee" thing. We were at a restaraunt and the American's at the next table asked for a coffee. The Italian owner took such unbelievable twisted delight in bringing them a tiny little expresso. The tourist looked at the coffee and said "I want a proper cup of coffee." The Italian said "but sir that's what I brought you." LOL

Don't you love those dumb Americans travelling in Italy? Hey I resemble that remark.
Get up the noses?? Beutiful kiwi colloquialism.

OK, CW, I take your point. No need to lay it on with a trowel. Now I don't know if I'm using kiwi or US. Eeekk I'm so confused.
Our "home" is meant to be England because that's where most of us come from originally, Scottish in my case, but NZ culture is very US, particularly west coast US I would say. I grew up with a surfing culture and the Beach Boys because the surfing culture was/is huge here.
But I'm still a kiwi and I guess our differences are what make us interesting.
I wondered about "get up your nose" and whether it was a kiwi expression. I've got plenty more "colourful" expressions if you want them.
BTW how is Mrs CW and how are you both doing?

Jenny, You aked how we are doing and I nerver responded. Here's a brief update and then I gotta run.
Past few weeks have been better bc she finally answered all my questions. Begrudgingly but answered just the same.
We are spending good quality time together. Not super active since she's still moving slow from the car accident. Short walks mostly.
We did get away from the crew for a night. Was 90% good. Had one small issue. Not A related.
Because she answered the questions I think/hope I can finally move along. Unfortunately the thoughts never go away completely.
More later,
cwmac

I know you didn't mean to but IT ABSOLUTELY SUCKS that I am now so vulnerable and I wish I could just go back 3 years and start that 3 years all over again.

Thanks CW. Not your fault at all - no need to apologise.
I should never have started going down that track on that post. I could see that no matter where I went with my reminscences it was going to involve memories of OM at some stage.
But, as soon as I read "boys of summer" I was gone. What a stupid middle aged woman I am.
On to the future - and it's going to be better than any past.
Luckily, Mel's big hair post made me laugh out loud. How can you go from being in tears to laughing in about two minutes.
Oh, that's right I'm a woman.

Well, this seems as good a time as any.
I don't feel as safe here any more. I can feel a board war or a WS/BS war coming on and I don't want to be part of it.
When I had the "triggers" last night I realised that I wasn't remembering the OM from the A but the b/f from when I was a teenager. (That's a good thing BTW - it was a nostalgia thing not an I wish I could see him now thing). I am getting so near the stage of complete indifference to the OM from the A if you can understand what I mean.
As SDFR said, time to go, time to grow.
I'll miss you guys, you all know who you are, you've saved my M and it's time to get on with living in it.

Lisa, I'll keep checking my AOL, I still would like to talk to you, MrsX, KY. Sorry, CW no men allowed - it's against my rules.
BTW, Lisa, your "What State?" thread was wonderful. It was so good to see everyone together - laughing and having fun. A perfect time to go.
Love you guys.

Jenny,
I am not sure what prompted you sudden decision to leave, but if you do decide to go I wanted to tell you that it has been a pleasure talking with you and watching you and your H recover. You are doing well, keep up the good work.
I am not sure about what board wars are starting, but hopefully the moniters or some of us can put a stop to it. It is soooo stupid.
Please take care and God Bless,
JL

KiwiJ, I understand. We evil men can't be trusted.
I didn't see any thread that was getting nasty but maybe I missed it.
I'll miss talking to you. I miss MrsX, too.
I'm with JL, I'm proud of you and your progress. Keep up the good work. Remember there'll be triggers. All that counts is waht you do with them not that they occur.
Anyway. Come back occassionally. Good luck to you and MrKiwi.
BTW, I thought of you when I read a Newsweek magazine that said Auckland was one of the cities where WiFi was taking off quickly.

Thanks so much guys.
I refuse to stay here and be called "evil". It takes a lot of guts to come on here as a FWW and then to be lumped in with "those" women just makes we weep. And I mean that, I'm crying when I write this.
I think it's the lack of any acknowledgement from SOME BW's that there are women on here who've done the hard yards and come through it.
I MIGHT make an exception for you CW on AOL, but you have to promise to be good and you're only allowed on if there are women there. My call sign is JenMBL and my e-mail is jenmbl@netscape.net In fact I'd welcome chats from any of my MB friends but I always forget to sign on to the durned thing when I log on the internet.
Jenny
Edited to add: You know the very first thing I ever e-mailed back to OM was "I don't think this is a good idea." and CW, much as I'd really like to chat to you as well as the girls, I think I SHOULD stand by my rules. Look what trouble I got into last time I e-mailed back to a man. Gosh, I even managed to raise a smile to myself then. A very rueful smile, but a smile nonetheless. [ June 07, 2004, 02:54 AM: Message edited by: KiwiJ ]
