Here's another problem that has come up in our family...I'm beginning to think that we live in Peyton Place.
Our son is divorced, with 3 children--two boys and a girl.
Four years ago, his ex-wife took off with his so-called best friend. We had the two boys visiting with us when the OM's wife called to tell us about it. Anyway, son's ex found out that we knew about it, and was afraid to face us so she didn't come to pick the boys up. We immediately called our son (an OTR trucker) and our lawyer. The lawyer got the paperwork going, and by the time our son got back to town, he essentially had temporary full custody of the boys except for the formalities. His ex-wife came back within a month. OM was leaving her in the motel room while he was out screwing other women. Eight and one/half months later, she gave birth to a girl. Yes, I believe that she is our son's, as she looks like my side of the family, and her blood type is the same as my son's and mine. She was a little premature (weighed just over 5 lbs, and the two boys weighed at least 7 lbs at birth), according to what the doctor told our son.
Anyway, two years ago, our DiL started cheating again with a guy who lived down the street. She has been in and out of our son's house. She wanted a divorce, so he gave it to her, and it was final July, 1998. They have joint custody of all 3 children; she got the car, and he got the house. My son continued to try to win her back, and she play it to the hilt. They continued to sleep together, even while she was living with OM. In November, she found out that my son was dating, so she wanted to come home. Son told her that she needed to get counselling, that he would go with her, but that she could not move back in with him until she got her head back on straight, and that he was going to continue to date. She threatened to marry the OM, which she claims she did on the day after Thanksgiving (Friday). On Saturday (the day after her "wedding", she was at son's GF's house threatening to beat her up if she didn't stop dating our son. Son's GF told me that her kids had seen her get beat up by their father, and she had sworn that she would never have them exposed to violence again, so she broke up with our son.
DiL has been back with our son twice since then (yeah, even though she didn't get counselling). I believe that she thought she would get some money out of his tax refund, but he told her he would give her $100, but the rest was going on the bills that she had run up during their marriage (he had to borrow $8000 to cover her bad checks and pay off finance co. accounts she had opened in his name). After a few weeks, she left and went back to new H. She came back a couple of months ago, and our son told her that this was the last time. Well, her new H moved her out of town (presumably to get her away from our son) while we had taken him and the boys on a camping trip.
Now, her car is messing up. She called our son, wanting to come back again. Our son is fed up, and has finally figured out that she just comes back when she wants something that new H can't afford or won't buy. Our son also has a nice new girlfriend--one who is much better suited to him. Son told her that he wasn't taking her back. In the meantime, she has found out about his new girlfriend. Last week, she told him that he couldn't call her house to talk to the kids (he does this every day) and that she wasn't going to let him have the kids on his weekend. He told her that she'd better get a lawyer. Well, she backed down from that. Yesterday, she told him that he could only have the two boys--that she doesn't "trust" him with the little girl. He asked her what she meant, and she said that she was thinking about charging him with molesting the baby.
I should mention that she never wanted to have boys, and has said that if the first baby had been a girl, she would not have had any more. I should mention, also, that the second boy, did not appear to thrive at all for the first 8 weeks of his life. He apparently cried all the time (she said it was colic), except when I had him (I fed him on demand). He only gained about 1 lb. in those 8 weeks. Finally, after I told her that if she didn't take him to the doctor, I would, the problem apparently cleared up. Within a matter of weeks, he had gained weight and stopped crying all the time. Anybody wondering the same thing I am?
Anyway, as far as the molestation thing is concerned, I have also been concerned about the possibility of that happening, due to the guy she's now married to, and have been paying close attention to our granddaughter's behavior, plus being on the lookout for any physical problems associated with such thing. I have not found anything to be concerned about. Our granddaughter, in spite of the turmoil of her short life, is well-behaved, outgoing, and absolutely adores her daddy--in fact, she usually tells her mother that she wants to stay with Daddy instead of going home.
So, please pray that our ex-DiL stops trying to use our grandchildren to manipulate our son. Our son is preparing to go to court over this, if need be.
